I doubt it. Trevedian has said many times in the past that he has skilled highly into those fields. Even if its a x2 research field thats still about 220 rp/day thats nearly 1.3years waiting and that presumes max skill right off the bat, which I am sure was not the case.
If its a x1 field skill thats over 2.5 years wait.

I did for 2 months. 4 X 4lvl agents. Good part was an improtant mission every 4 days and Astarte BPO. Sucking part - RD missions are boredom and cost you isk.

guess its all luck of the draw
i won me a null s bpo and all i had was 8617 rp's
made me pretty pennt sellling few 100k rounds of ammo then sold the bpo for 900mil
me wants another!!!

I got the same rather useless BPO after a mere 540 days of R&D from a Laser Physics agent... yay. Makes three - two ships, one ammo :P

i just wish that if they would make one change it would be to release one bpo of everything once per month . i always understood that that was the case until i found out that there are say a finite # seeded then thats it .
giving out copies is rather pointless im not going to train skills to build a ship unless i have an origional , and i wouldn't put the infastructure together to build it either unless i had an origional
if agents only hand out copies i would just sell them to people who already produced
closest i have ever came to a tech 2 bpo offer was a agent offer which was for a stilleto blue print it cost me 11 mil to complete the mission and i got a one run copy ...

the only change I think should be made, would be that you have to give up rp if/when you accept an offer.
each bpo could have an rp value, if you have less rp than this amount you end up back at zero.
at least that way, anyone who had never had/accepted an offer, would get an increased chance in the long term.

RP is already reset to 0 when you accept an offer. Not for all your R&D agents, but only for the one who gave you the BPO.

Yes I have gotten all my tech 2 bpo offers with this same character, and I don't EVEr run R&D missions.
For all the people saying "That BPO is trash" I just want to remind you that while the last couple have been T2 Crystal and T2 Missle BPO's, I have gotten several gun bpos and smartbomb bpo's etc. I sold the last Sabretooth Fury Light Missle BPO for 1.8 Bil, who is saying they wouldn't want that?
People giving the advice to reject any T2 ammo BPO offers are clueless and really do not have a grasp of how the T2 BPO lotto works. Reject a 500 mil - 2 bil isk BPO for a chance at something better, I say TAKE TEH ISKIES!

Im just getting into the R&D game... its exciting to think of the opportunities in recieving the BPO, and then there is the stark feeling of lost hope when one crunches the numbers.
Ive just started a fulla up researching Starship... methinks high energy plasma or something else with 50 hundred seeded BPs would have been a better idea...
Increasing the liklihood of an offer comes down to; selecting fields with many BPs, high agent lvl, lack of competition in the field, and of course amount of RP and rate of acquisition... anything else? What about Agent Corp?

It was not far off with my guesses that I plugged into for my research into the ammo streams. It predicted I could expect on average to get 2 BPOs if I was running 5 agents. I got 3.

Coolness... Could you gve me some definitions. Ie. BPO instances? and how would one estimate the number of researches etc. Thats a bit of a stab in the dark no?
Also, what time frame is it over? How often are they seeded?
And how many points did you have on average to recieve 3!?

The calculations make some assumptions to simplify things, so time does not enter in as a factor. It assumes all the BPOs are dropped simultanously, which of course they are not. Modelling this is really not necessary to get a feel for the likelihood over one period of BPOS (e.g. the current ammo POS drops). If you start the modelling now, i.e. when nearly all the bpos have been dropped from the ammo streams, the numbers are going to look very grim.
Yes all my figures were guess work based on the number of people in my corp who I know who run agents, the relative popularity of each stream, and then extrapolated for the general population. Then I made some assumptions that I was ahead of everyone by 100% as I have been in research since day one of those agents becoming available.
What is interesting is when you start looking at the ship streams - the propability of getting lucky is so very very tiny, the 30b value of the BPOs is pretty justified.

Core - why no BPOs? Because you are doing STARSHIP research! All ppl are trying to get sth from it and i actually know ppl with 7! accounts full of alts (yeah 21 characters) with maxed skills doing ONLY starship. Now you know why you dont have much chances there?
Btw, Trevedian, i guess you have all agents in Laser Physics? Atm only 50-60k RPs in whole category but had my 1st BPO already some time ago (Scorch L). Waiting for more :) And alt in training, hehe :)

It's funny when I see both sides of the coins. Character with 6 R&D agents in Laser Physics, received 1 ammo bpo from each agent for a grand total of 6 (Trevedian alike).
Character with 5 R&D agents in Gallente Starship (2,5 years old char) haven't seen a bpo yet (Core alike).
