Its my second time here, the first time the missions seemed to just stop and I didn't like bugging people in the rookie channel so I got bored and left.
That was 3 years ago and I have to say, things have changed for the better, at least for newbies.
I haven't got stuck or needed to ask for help at all yet. I am still on lvl 1 missions however and I am sure my ship is probably not kitted out correctly but things just seem to make sense this time around.
I still don't ask Qs in the rookie channel. Sometimes I will peek but decided most things that are asked can be resolved by reading and researching.
Anyway, I have joined a corp, as you can see, because they sent me an invite and I thought "Why not?"
But I haven't been in contact with anyone and I am happy plodding along doing the PVE ( is that the correct term?) missions until such time that I feel I have gained enough skill and knowledge to be able to join in with a corp and not look like an ass!
My question is kind of layered.
I like combat. That is what makes me lean forward and push my nose up against the monitor. (Must remember to put my glasses on) I have no real desire to park up in space mining for hours.... even in a group...nor do I want to partake in courier runs... if i can avoid them.
I would like one day to be part of a corp that fights PVP.. .. But not yet. I am not ready.
Is there a right time to join a Corp?
Am I possibly losing out on knowledge and training by not interacting with people whilst I learn the game?
My partner is into mining and industry and he is part of a corp that goes out mining and he seems to be learning things which he passes on to me such as where I can check whether my Algos is fitted correctly etc..
Hence my question...

You can pvp pretty much straight away. Faction warfare, eve-uni, rvb, maybe even brave newbies if you want to just pvp. others will take frigate pilots that tackle, and are training towards interceptors (which are useful for the rest of your career).
Ship loss is in PVP is kinda inevitable anyway, so I wouldn't really throw the "not ready" wall up there in front of yourself too much.
If you want to go look around more, covops ship with covops cloak lets you break down the lowsec is scary barrier too.
