Does anyone know what is new since retail started? its 6 months down the line now, we where told at the begining of retail that stations would be "1 to 2 months"
i dont think there is anything new in the game that wasnt there at the begining of retail, as far as i know we have a load of new bugs, things we never wanted, asked for or expected (email system prime example.. it wasnt needed)
Like the factory system.. why was it changed? ok it wasnt perfect before, but its no more perfect now. You have more than 20 prints in a hangar and it takes ages to load, have a 100 prints in there and its 5 minute wait! why do we need to load all of those prints when we can only select ONE? why add extra load to server/client when not needed? why does it have about 6 screens just to set a job up? why isnt it just drag and drop a print, or right click > "install" then all on one page the input, output, number of runs etc?
all i know of that is new is:
billboards (whup de fing do) - nice but not usefull or needed, they are good, if a little small and hard to read the text on them.
Miner II - but monopoly on them, only a few have them.
so what else is new apart from loads more bugs? release day was much more stable, lag free and enjoyable to play. ok server side might be beter but client side is now in a beta state.
come on.. humor me. what carrots that have been dangled at us have actually appeared?

Sadly, there isn't much that wasn't in the last beta. I think secure containers, Implants (currently not able to get) and Siege Launchers are about it, I'm drawing a blank on anything else.
... you will see more and more marketing which in turn will bring you more players to torture. |

Nope Sky unfortunately other than the few things you mentioned already, the only thing CCP has added since beta is BUGS. In fact many things that were available in Beta are still not available in game.

im not taking the mickey here, its an honest post, im curious what has been achieved in 6 months that is important to the player base. sure less cycles are good for CCP but its doesent really effect us unless its causing us lag.
knowing what has been has actually been achieved in the past 6 months, compared to what has been promised to be in at release or "soon".
This will then give some idea of what we can expect for the future 6 months. because since about.. beta 4 i have seen a recurring pattern. and i dont like it.

lol i like it ;)
but they should be here (dare i say it) "soon"
but they arent exactly something major are they. why arent boosters in game? they are just a trade good after all and where there in beta, they are going to be agent trade good only or something arent they? so why not add them... surely it would take less work and effort than say... messing with the email system and making it practically unusable? wonder how much time was spent (or wasted) on doing that.

Edited by: BLACK HORSE on 19/09/2003 18:24:38 I must agree to the fact the new mail system was unnecessary and does not work. I have been on since late in Beta and my patience is running low. I keep saying to myself to hold on the next patch will bring the goods, but hey it never does instead it brings the bugs. Now I realize every change good or bad will have some adverse affect but come on I was crashing every 5 minutes after the last patch. Anyways I will continue to play as long as I have patience. Or untill I can't stand to take it up the A** by CCP any longer.

no, most of them where "balance" issues for things ingame already. go read them again. or tiny bug fixes, some of them .. as i said arent client aware bugs. Ie bugs we didnt know about and didnt directly affect us in anyway.
most of the bug fixes are tiny little things that just need a tweek to some numbers in the database table. eg: weapon balancing. BP resource usage.. etc.
with each patch that fixes some tiny bug that didnt matter to anyone really (for the most part anyway) serious bugs get ignored over and over again. Tak ethe sensor booster bug... it was in game for what.. 3 months? (or was it two?) and they didnt fix it till they had to face upto the fact that people where not going to stop using them, it took a 30 min server down to fix. how long to fix the bug itself behind the scenes? -> you can bet it took a lot less time than the GUI changes did in this latest effort.
so, what new things are in game, not what little didy things have been bug fixed, then broke again, then re fixed, then bugged again.

ummm, attribute boosters ?
But they don't really count since they were removed again.
I'll try again, Astrogeology is recently new in retail, I never played beta so I don't know what I'm missing... ------------------------------------------- CCP please fix your patch so my big brother can play with his corpmates again soon.

btw, i read about playerstations would soon be added in some interview. then noticed that the interview was a few month old. i m a bit sceptic about "added soon" anouncements since then.

Eh how about advanced cloning and insurance? And lots of other small things, like shuttles.
Don't you count that?
I agree that it sucks that player stations aren't in. Or well, actually it doesn't suck. What sucks is that that they said that they would come "soon" several months ago :/ They even tested player owned stations in the end of beta.

shuttles suck. i have never seen the point in them, you can use a noob ship to do exactly the same.
you can get an indy to go much faster, costs about the same isk in mineral terms, and carry a whole lot more stuff.
insurance.. yes nice.. but big deal, not something huge is it?
the game is about acumilating things, you get to point where you own just about everything worth owning MUCH too easily.

Edited by: Erty on 20/09/2003 21:32:35 Edited by: Erty on 20/09/2003 21:29:56 Shuttles are cheap :) And you can buy shuttles EVERYWHERE, you can't buy a frigate + afterburners at every station... But as I said that's not anything big.
Why didn't you comment on cloning? :P You can't deny that that's a HUGE thing. I mean imagine if everyone would lose all their skillpoints (except 3000 :P) when they got pod killed...no one would PvP.
Edit: if you think the "goal" for the game is to be rich and have lots of ships, sorry, you're wrong. The goal is to have fun. I'm not saying that beeing rich makes the game fun, but it's not the point.
Though I agree, you can get too much money too fast. Too easy. Corps don't really have to fight with each other if they don't want to, there's always more space, more asteroids. But this is also because the prices are so low. The original price (NPC) for a lvl2 battleship is over 200 mil (I think), now you can get one for under 100 mil :/
When stations and titans finally arrives this will probably change though, I mean a station will cost soo damn much :)

I pretty much agree that nothing of real significance was added since release with the exception of cloning. At this stage though, they do not need to add more stuff. They need to get the game stable and playable, which means fixing the stuck problem, fixing the CTD problem and getting rid of all the annoying day to day bugs that make playing the game a chore (autopilot anyone?). Once the game is stable then thoughts of new content should come into play. Adding more bugged features on top of other bugged features is just assinine at this point.
We've had four months of balancing weapons and npc pirates. Leave it be for now and get to the functionality issues.

Quote: The goal is to have fun.
We're paying for fun. Unfortunately, when there's so many bugs in virtually every aspect of the game that you use that it bogs you down to 1/10th the speed of how fast you could do things during build 1166 (I.E. spending 9/10 of your time getting around BUGS, lag and getting STUCK), this is not fun. This is tedious. EXTREMELY tedious.
As I see it, the only thing this major patch has brought us, is bugs. Now I don't mind some bugs-yes, the buddy list was annoying, and could have been hurtful in some situations, but it didn't impede gameplay TOO much. Help us CCP, build version 1166 is our only hope. Patch v 1217 to v 1166, DOWNGRADE it to 1166, I think you'll get a lot fewer problems .
Edit to clarify: Build v 1166 was fun. This isn't. _______________________________________________________________________

Well, from last CSM:
TomB > ETA is hopefully in next big update, we will be focusing right now on fixing bugs and stability issues and giving you minor patches.
And as mobile refineries and stuff like that are tested right now they will probably be ready for release at tranq after a few bug fixing patches.
The future looks bright :)
