Now i am no bounty hunter or anything like that and i cant kill much other than the wing commanders in the astroid belts. I just started this game last week. But there is this guy who hangs out in my system that i hunt rats in and he insists on attacking everyone he comes across. now for miners he is an agrivation because he warp jams them and spends about 5 min killing them. apparently he just started this game a few days ago at most.
ok so i can understand going to 0.3 space to kill minners so you dont have to worry about much. but seriously, why does he insist on attacking me every time he sees me? i kill him every time and he never scratches my armor. unfortunatly a few times i had to take the first shot so i can kill him befor he gets too close.
But is there any real drawback to attacking someone like that first? and if i keep killing him over and over is there any negitive things that can happen? all i do is blow up his ship. i dont pod him. i have no reason to attack anyone unless they target or attack me.
I have only been in the game a week and plan on growing up to be a pirate hunter. But this kid isnt a pirate, he is annoying. is it ok to keep killing him and taking his cargo over and over and over?

If you're getting decent loot out of it, let him keep it up. I'm sure that the miners he's bugging appreciate it.

You lose security status, which will in turn mean you lose access to highsec space. Not podding something stifles the loss, but it's still pretty significant. If you don't want to lose sec status you have to ensure he always attacks first (Locking you doesn't count as agression). -----

Each time you shoot him first, got no killrights on him and he is not at sec -5.0 or less you will lose 0.05 sec standing.

Then if you kill them, you lose 0.2 status (I'm working out via drunken maths, so it might be wrong, I just work in the % values).

eve is really a great game. but only as a pirate. even if you are a pvper in a carebear alliance (most of them, not all), most time you have to defend your space or do boring blobs. who wants that? piracy means nothing else than total freedom in anything you want to take part in without penalities from your corp ( other than killing stuff ). only pirates feel the real eve gaming. and then again CCP created a game exactly for pirates. they gave u everything necessary to ransom and loot players, unlike many other games. and most important, they made agents one of the best income ingame (not to mention miners), people who have normally not a basic understanding of pvp. in less words: they created you food...

Hi, Let me put thing s this way:
a) being the agresor usualy means that you fight on youir terms so you have an advantage b) best defence is a strong ofence c) PvP in this way is very very fun and you learn a lot of things this way d) killing people can provide nice income (I ransom normaly) and a feeling of success, maybe even superiority (you never know whats keeps people going..)
About his guy - I think he finds you a challenge and thus keeps comming at you, because its very very fun.
Drawbacks to noob pirates from my own experience: sec status loss very very fast and limitation to a certain area. This is corelated to the fact that you can not survive in 0.0 unless you have friends there and since you are a noob this is rare. Also ship class you can fly may also be limited and so is your prey, in case you do not have numbers. Sec status gainh is very slow due to some of the above.
Conclusion: I love being a pirate and would never choose different. *** TRats - We ransom!!! *** |

check the killmails. if hes loosing named items worth more than his ship in total, hes an idiot.
or ransom him and if he says something like "why should i pay ill just kill you" then hes a huge idiot.
if hes not really losing anything than hes bored, or doing it for whatever fun there is in it.
what i consider fun is pvping in a velator/ibis/other noob ships
or one of thsose obscure cruisers like the bellicose or arbitraior or celestis. i mean, who thinks they get beaten by one of those? they'll almost always argo first. which means a higher sec status.
and who would call a bellicose primary? ------------------- uhh.. what does this button do? |

So might be a trial alt of a bored player. Unless he drops really good loot (doubt it), or you have too high chance of dying without being the aggressor:
Don't shoot first. You'll lose sec status for far too cheap goal.

#1 Reason for starting a game as a "pirate" = you're a l%ser in real life and were beat up constantly in school/on the street so you take it out on computer games

Completely unneccessary commentary here. From a gaming standpoint, there is no difference between someone who wants to be a pirate, a bounty hunter, a merc, a miner, a builder, a terrorist or a paramilitarist. It's just something one does in a video game to have fun.

You know, from time to time, motivation to kill the carebear wanes and I find myself playing more EQ2 than Eve. But then I read a post by an a$$hat like this and it makes me want to slaughter another 100 carebears.
Thanks for providing me with the little extra something that gets me rolling in Eve again :)

Quote: behind the store, shot, and fed to the pigs.
It's an inside joke I use, always referring to three of the best movies I've ever seen.
Fight Club - In reference to taking Raymond out behind the store and threatening to kill him if he doesn't go back to college.
Pulp Fiction - In regards to shooting of anything. "What ain't no country I ever heard of. Do they speak English in What?".
Snatch - In regards to killing someone, seperating the body into six peices, and then feeding the body to the pigs. Quote: And when you got your six pieces, you gotta get rid of them, because it's no good leaving it in the deep freeze for your mum to discover, now is it? Then I hear the best thing to do is feed them to pigs. You got to starve the pigs for a few days, then the sight of a chopped-up body will look like curry to a ****head. You gotta shave the heads of your victims, and pull the teeth out for the sake of the piggies' digestion. You could do this afterwards, of course, but you don't want to go sievin' through pig ****, now do you? They will go through bone like butter. You need at least sixteen pigs to finish the job in one sitting, so be wary of any man who keeps a pig farm. They will go through a body that weighs 200 pounds in about eight minutes. That means that a single pig can consume two pounds of uncooked flesh every minute. Hence the expression, "as greedy as a pig".

Nothing wrong with being a pirate and doing it for profit, it is a neccessary "evil" in the game. Perhaps i stated myself wrong What i ment is a "pirate" a person who kills for no reason just to see other people suffer, shooting new players who can not defend themselves, ganking people for Sh*ts and giggles. There are real pirates in this game who i respect and understand taht without them this game would be boring. My all times favories are the famous Jokers that was love/hate relationship, too bad they don't play anymore. If anybody wants to be area pirate and have that as a carrier should read up on their history yarrr
Appologies for previous comment, just came out wrong, and excuse my spelling, english is not my main language.
