Add one luxury yacht for each race.
Good looks - there is alreday gallente model, is gold magnate an amarrian alternative? Fittings like in shuttle or freightener. Mobility of a cruiser. Good speed (like 300). Very high price.
Function: showing people You're reach ;)

I like this idea. But not for showing people youre rich, thats not enough of a reason. But maybe you can get money from rich NPCs who want to see different areas of Eve and thus make a bussiness out of it.

Edited by: Drizit on 05/05/2006 16:32:14 I got a size chart for the ships a while ago and it shows an Opus Luxury Yacht underneath the Gallente Moros. Since I have never seen one in game, why is it there?
Or is this something that was removed from the game a long time ago?
It would be cool to see some playboy yachts floating about, even if they are just NPC ships.
If a fast and unarmed runabout could be used, this would be it. very little cargo space equivalent to a large frig 200 m3, slightly faster than a shuttle, say 700m/s but less agile 1 mid slot and the ability to fit MWD but nothing else shield and armour equivalent to a shuttle. Very expensive because you are buying a pimped up runabout. Ideal for those highsec courier missions.

Opus Luxury Yachts were given out as part of an event I think. You haven't seen any of them, because there are supposedly only two of them left ingame (I recently spoke to one of the owners and he knows of a second one but no one else).

Nobody ever undocks in an opus luxury yacht because there will almost certainly be some idiot with a suicide kestrel who will blow it up just so he can brag about it to his mates. ------------------------------------------------
There, it has my avatar in it now. That makes it eve-related. No more sig nerfage please. |

there are plenty of stupidly expensive ships which you can spend your cash on. E.g. the faction ships.

Yachts will never be viable in game unless they are like the Luxury Yachts in SWG and cant be attacked but also unable to go into areas considered dangerous(ie they would have to be restricted to .5 and higher)

Should make them useful in some way, so that people want to fly them and risk them. http://www.battleclinic.com/kill_sigs/signature_display.php?string=Qolde |

I know of one person with an Opus luxury yatch who is not the person mentioned previously in this thread. Other than that I've never heard of one. ---------------------------------- "There's no +6 Sword of WTFPWN in Eve." - Er... Some person on the forum... |

A luxury yacht, how should it be? Expensive, terribly expensive, otherwise it's not really a luxury. Not really usefull, otherwise it'll steal the role of other ships. Insurance not worth it, we are talking of expensive items in a war ridden space. I don't think your car insurance would cover a ferrari blown up in Iraq. Not completely defenseless, it should be able to survive kamikaze ships if carefully fitted (between reason, of course). Think about yachts here, they are luxurious, and usually fast, so a good speed should be present. Its building materials should include thinks like exotic dancers, janitors, slaves (for amarrians), holo-reels, ... . After all it's a ship to live in.
So I would make a cruiser-size ship, without high slots, medium and low slots according to the race (more medium for caldari, as they shield-tank), about 4-6 in each level. Probably some kind of penalty to agressive modules (-90% range to everything?). Decent handling and speed. No drone bay, and little cargo bay (if any).
Heh, it's fun to desing a ship that I would not fly because it'd be useless except for bragging rights

Ya make it ungodly expensive and slow (like a limo). Give it alot of visibiliy and lights and maybe some billboards(so people can see you what they are approaching the station in warp) And make it have more armor than anything else. (Just because you know people will want to kill it) Also give bonuses for defense boosts, and make it so it not worth fitting any weapons of offensive items to it. You also might want to make it a beacon for CONCORD so they can protect you.

Voogru owns the only one in existance. It wasn't given out at an event....it was stolen from one.
I've always wanted a ship like it, if not the Opux itself. Just an expensive ship to cruise around in for no good reason. Right now my Machariel serves that purpose. ---
