I have this minor problem.
Im a mission runner. I do almost nothing else in Eve than run mission. My goal has been the 10.0 standing with my agent or atleast a 9.8 faction standing. I do this to get some offers i cant otherwise get. Now i realize i would perhaps like to try something new, like running missions for amarr instead of Minmatar. My problem is now, that my standings with Amarr are - 10000000 or something. What i was thinking is a storyline defecter mission.
Im thinking a long line of missions(10-30missions) that pay very little(to show goodwill from my side), but will allow you to stay within the storyline idea, and still reset your negative standings while running missions.
Im not sure if im making sense, or if its good idea or bad idea. But let me hear your thoughts.

Even better would be an agent in space, from the opposing faction's intelligence agency which specialises in "turning" enemy players. These would give out missions to enemy agent runners (of low or bad standing) in return for standing gains.
Of course doing these missions would hurt your standings with your existing faction.

Please CCP, fix something like this. I wanted to try and run missions for guristas, but my -7 standing made that pretty hard. I even petitioned it, but got the response that it could not be solved.
Some way to gain standings, or sacrifice standings on one faction to gain in another, is really needed.

/SIGNED Why can I fix my standing with Concord but not with the rest of the EVE factions? If they ever enable Concord missions, would this fix the problem?

This is a GREAT idea, I wish it would be implemented.
Although, I can already hear the e-peen morons yelling 'carebear' over and over (which seems to be the limit to their vocabulary and intellect). And, i am not sure how that would fit in with the faction warfare stuff I have heard about. She's fast enough for you, old man! |

its a nice idea, but concord missions make empire-gankin a lot easier, and were removed for that reason - also, you arent really meant to have +ve standings with all factions, but its possible if you equally grind all factions, iirc

There will be, somewhere in the game, at least one group which is:
(A) positive standings towards Amarr; and (B) still willing to let you do missions.
Go find them, work for them, when your Amarr standing is finally healed, then you've got what you wanted. And yes, it will take a long time. So it should. ________________________________________________

im sure there is a couple of corperations i can use still. Only problem i can find is if they are setled in Amarr space, then ill get jumped every time i change system.
My second concern is this. It has taken me almost 2years of playing..once or twice a week, to get my curent standing, so it will take me a while to reset the standing, and another 1-2 years to gain new standing.
This i feel could be cut short a bit, by adding a great series of storyline missions, which instead of taking time, took isk or comitment on my part, in some way(all missions done in one week) something.. im not sure what.
But i agree its not something we HAVE to have, but its a new type of mission, its more storyline and basicly a way to breathe new air into a number of npc mission runners!
Again this is just a thought.
So thank you all for responding and adding your ideas. Keep em coming.

How about one agent from each faction who can be bribed to influence your standing with his faction

i thought about that at first. But basicly that would mean any wealthy player could change their standings at will, which i dont think is good. However a time comitment would be equal to all players, no matter what wallet status they have. But i grand you its another idea, and perhaps it could be used as "part" of a larger mission. "Bribe the officials" part 1/5 something like that. i dunno?
Kepp it coming.

You can do missions for Sisters of Eve, they are liked by everyone.
It'll take a while to get your Amarr standing up that way though....

Or Advanced Diplomacy skill?
I am also a mission runner. I found out very early that you need to do a couple of missions for a lot of different corporations to later be able to do missions for another faction. For example if you are a secure empire mission runner you need to do a couple of missions for both Thukker tribe corporations so that you later if you change your mind could go out into 0.0 and do missions for any pirate npc corporation.
The standing system is very complex and if you do not balance your standings from the beginning you might end up cut of from part of the galaxy. I like it that way.

No longer true. You'll take minor standings hits from some pirate factions, Caldari, and maybe Amarr, Khanid, and/or Ammatar if you run storyline missions for Sisters of Eve.
Not to mention, they may ask you to blow up Caldari/Amarr ships.

I prefer the current set up where you live with the consequences of your actions.
The people who have spent years being careful with their factions deserve the reward.
And in most cases there actually is a round about way to fix a fiven faction - its just painful.
Wherever you went - here you are.
