It's when you bring back a thread that's been dead for a very long time (someone not replying for a few months) -------------------------------------

CCP don't like it. Since they own and operate these boards, that's the only definition of "bad" there is. ________________________________________________

Some people like to go back to 2004 or so and just resurrect 5-10 threads within a very little timeframe, then tens of players start replying to those thread, believing that it's a new thread. This often generates lots of smack since many of those threads are way out of date, and ship setups etc have changed a lot since then.
Example:
Moron (A) brings back a thread from 2004 where another player recommends using a dual MWD Raven with 5 cap relays in the lows. Players (B), (C) and (D) doesn't check the timestamp (which I very rarely do) and states their opinions (flaming) about how cap relays nerf shield boosting (which it didn't when the OP (back in 2004) wrote the original thread.
Anyways, it's not allowed, so don't do it

ah, rgr. i completely understand it when eve-related, outdated threads are resurrecting, but a thread about baking? its not like the cookies could become old and nasty.

i blame the "use search monkeys" ie the people who ***** as someone starting a new topic. so said new player uses search and takes the first hit and as such bumps a multi year old thread.

:looks at timestamp: Agreed, and not all threads considered 'old' are out of date or irrelevant.
Hm, now i think of it. why doesn't ccp hold a regular cleanup? I mean most threads dating from early 2004 for instance arn't very relevant anymore and could be easily deleted imo.
