Suppose Propulsion modules had their own Slot, neither Low, medium nor high.
They still took up the same CPU and powergrid, and every ship had two of these slots (for dual prop fits).
All ships retain their current amount of slots, no CPU or powergrid increases. Freighters do not receive these slots.
Virtually every ship has a prop mod, and thus, this is why I ask, it's as if every ship is -1 med slot from the get-go. |

How often do you see subcaps without prop mods in low/null sec? |

That's not the point. It's up to each player/entity to decide on a fit/doctrine and if that means not fitting a prop mod for whatever reason who are you to decide if it's "valid" or not? I don't understand what this really accomplishes except for taking something away from the sandbox.

I don't understand what this really accomplishes except for taking something away from the sandbox. for instance, any fleet sitting on a gate or at a warp in with the intent on alpha'ing off whoever they target, would likely rather have their mids filled with sebos and TC's. |

Solo battleships often go propless, in exchange for more tank, tackle, or cap. I wear my goggles at night.

like the others have said, not every ship fits a prop mod, and on some ships its a meaningful choice which prop mod u intend to use.
this would also give a free mid to almost every ship. a big deal for Amarr and Caldari folk. Yes, it would give a free mid to every ship, that goes without saying. It seems that many Winmatar pilots quiver at this suggestion, especially in the frigate/cruiser class. It would also help gallente frigs. |

Balance is in the eye of the beholder. The word shouldn't even be used in EvE nor expected in a rock paper scissors game. |

a well argued empty point...
edit- if u think winmatar are that much more powerful in the frigate level, then train them up and use them. it wont take long. I think this addresses the larger issue of needing a separate class of utility slots. As much as I enjoy shields, the BS you have to go through with balancing tank with anything resembling ewar plus a prop mod is absurd in relation to what you can do with armor buffer boats. Utility slots would cover non-ewar and non-shield, and would mostly encompass passive upgrades, prop mods, and scanning equipment. It would balance out more evenly with armor boats, and would help quite a bit with the issue surrounding mid slot allocation for heavy armor ships like the slicer and retribution. |

are u suggesting a falcon should get seven e-war slots, two prop slots and then seven shield slots?? this is where ur perception of balance should be saying 'wtf...no!'
The hoops u have to jump through for a shield tank are there for good reason, and armour tanks have to jump through similar hoops for damage and speed. so if we get separate slots for e-war and prop mods, we need separate slots for weapon upgrades and hull upgrades. and u can see where this is going.
what we have now works well. where we have some ships that want to fit heavy e-war going for armour tanks despite their racial flavour, like falcons, scorps etc, or some ships that want speed and dps going for shield tanks despite their base attributes favouring armour, like brutix. canes, tempests and face smashing vindi's and navy domi's.
there is creativity within constraints with the system we have now, and its not only working, but interesting too. separate all the slots and there is so much freedom every ship has e-war, every ship has damage mods, every ship has prop mods and every ship doesnt have to make any sacrifices to get any of it.
TL:DR
flavour and creativity over homogenisation EVE FAQ "7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY?No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided""So it will be up to a pilot to remain vigilant wherever they may be flying and be ready for anything at any time" |

My buzzard has no prop mod. I live in null. I am an idiot though. This is known Money at its root is a form of rationing.
