So I started to look up a bit about it, but there's no real data on the current state of Solitude.
I've read that it's not actually easy to reach. Some people even die before they reach it, obviously, as the only routes there are though low or no sec space.
Are there any solitutionists around who can give me a proper heads up about current affairs?
How's the ganking scene?
Do Goons, TEST, New Order have bases there?
Is it a boring place to be, as the name indicates?
Thank you for answering my questions and filling me with what I so much desire! |

I had a base of operations there once. It is sort of boring. I thought it would be better for exploration, but sufficient others had the same idea that it was about the same as everywhere else.
I got a clone there via covert ops through low sec, no issue at all. Once I got loot out via a high sec to high sec wormhole. Eventually I just sold everything and left. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

Usually a station with supplies to restock ships and ammo, or simply a staging station from where attacks are coordinated. Not that I understand what I'm saying, but I've heard these words make sense to others. |

The last time I was in Solitude, I remember thinking it was aptly named because we were mostly alone.
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the ho's and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' and I'll look down, and whisper 'Hodor'. |

Dotlan can't tell me that.
Dotlan can't tell me whatever the people are able to tell me and it's always worth a shot asking for things that one can't just simply find on the internet.
It's a legit thread. I bet you can't make your own! :p |

Solitude doesn't have that big a market, prices are inflated for just about everything and miners still get ganked there. The new order operate out of Boystin as does Eve Uni (though they don't gank anyone). I flew through there recently and every solar system that bordered low sec had a can anchored by the new order welcoming folk to 'high sec' and every belt had a can dropped by a new order member there to remind miners to pay for their permits.
A lot of high sec corps try to avoid war decs by hiding out there, but most war deccers have jump clones down that way anyway, meaning that you've still got to live on your wits. Dumbing down of Eve Online will result in it's destruction... |

solitude is mostly very quiet.
Some people live in the high sec island, and some in the null-sc systems with the Intaki NPC stations, but, for the most part, its a region where little happens.
still, its like living in a low-intensity fountain - always someone ready to take the jam out of your PvE doughnut.
if exploration and ratting is your thing, youre better off going deep in null-sec proper, theres even less people there. drone regions are almost entirely empty, deep south regions are mostly empty, hell, everything is mostly empty outside of staging/market systems. |

Hehe...I put those cans in Boystin.
I actually really like Solitude. The fact that it's isolated means it has more of a sense of community than the rest of highsec. Its a good place for mining, PVE, exploration and industry. I think it would be good for wardeccing too. For ganking it feels a bit target-poor, but I do it from time to time.
Logistics can be challenging. You can buy what you need there, but prices run a little high. When I am in Solitude, I check regularly for highsec-highsec wormholes and take advantage of them to haul things in and out when I find them. www.everevolutionaryfront.com

Pleased to make your acquaintance sir.
I jump clone back and forth now as our alliance uses solitude to form up and resupply our roams in the surrounding low sec and null sec systems going into syndicate.
I like the quiet and lonely places in eve where I don't have to compete too much with other people for the resources and rewards of eve. Plus the fact that it is a decent sized high sec island with a distinct community makes it feel separate to the rest of new eden. Makes it easier to watch the natives, you soon get to know what everyone is up to. Dumbing down of Eve Online will result in it's destruction... |

Considering how far away Solitude is from the "mainland" High Sec cluster, I'd imagine it's only very useful to Null corps. |

I lived in the Solitude lowsec system of Pertnineere for a good six months with my old alliance, Casoff. I'd say it was an overall enjoyable experience. Friendships were made, scraps were had with the locals, and a real sense of community was formed. It really was isolated though. Logistics was always a pain the buttocks for me, as I did not posess a carrier or jump freighter of any sort, and alliance logistics were limited. Still, it is a fun, quiet region where one can go to kick back and relax, and is also a nice place to grow a corp. I certainly transformed in my time being there. I may go back some day, for old time's sake, or to visit some friends and enemies (looking at you Black Thorne Alliance ). Market was truly garbage, however. I'd love to help anyone out who intends on setting up there. I wear my goggles at night.
