Plex prices will continue to rise, and rise large.
The ship skins program is in its infancy, and is just starting to suck up plexes. The null sec cartels, at least goons and pl's, are in grind mode right now, and pumping out massive amounts of ISK. Now, even the lowest grunt in those cartels is using ISK to fund their gametime.
And lastly, now that the dev's are completely screwing people with the drone skills, many people will have to fund alt's training times, which is even more plex demand.
Yeah, this is just a hiccup on the way to 1 billion ISK plexes. Too bad I won't be paying that for my alt I am training.
Most people viewed Orwell's writings as a warning. The harper regime and the goons treat them as a guidebook. |

A few things:
TESO has about ....6-12 months before that pos goes free2play. Then, and only then you might have to worry about losing some people, but they will be back. Cause EvE is like crack.
I would be a lot more worried about is Albion Online, which is shaping up to be EvE with orks, elves, other fantasy trappings. But even then, you would be able to do EvE in Space..and EvE with swords.. so I doubt you will see a huge drastic drop in plex sales.

Why wouldn't someone want that? I mean I love big ships and what not, but if it was only "ship ****" that kept me, I could play lots of other things. It is the /mechanics/ and the interaction with people that I enjoy. Getting to do that in a fantasy setting has its appeal, and again... its not as if people can't do both. |

Eh, Played the ESO betas. Wasn't particularly bad tbh. I think they managed to capture something of the spirit of the TES games which is no small feat in an mmo environment.
Still, not something I'd pay $50 + $15/month for. Not in today's mmo market. |

Elves in space is not a problem, look at all the Eldar fans. So the fact elves in space has been done ...doesn't matter. What DOES matter is having a system like EvE Online but with the trappings of the fantasy setting.
I never said "OMG, its le eve killa!1111", but considering that you have a part of the population that DOES enjoy fantasy stuff as well, I believe there will be some level of cross over.
More so on those nights when everyone is just sitting around, waiting for someone to start something or pop off. I can easily see someone saying "Well, corp mates, we don't seem to be doing anything tonight, so I'm going to go." and then hit up Albion.
Lord knows having options is a good thing :P

Because I haven't been able to vent my spleen anywhere else:
I too share a hatred for the Eldar Scrolls game that promised much and delivered a near 'NeverWinter Online' experience with slightly more enjoyable crafting.
ESO was not so much bad as it gave you the themepark express with mostly meaningless skill choices that ended in 'morphing' skills that changed overall function in a very minor way. You were either playing a single player game with people randomly bunning hopping or sprinting past OR you were trying to find a group of people to play a 2002-03 DAoC (Dark Age of Camelot / Planetside) style realm vs realm battle.
Everything there had been done better somewhere else.
Plus I like a little non-consentual PVP every now and again (Let's be honest, I'm always on the receiving end but it keeps the game fresh). |

It's just another generic WoW clone in ES clothes, nothing more. The game will probably beat KotR's record for "Biggest Launch followed by Biggest Exodus."
Seriously, it will turn into a P2W game within a year and be gone within three, tops.
Now SC... that might make a dent for a while, but despite all the claims that game & EvE are just too fundamentally different to really be considered competition with each other. What SC will be competing against is Valkyrie, and that CCP is still pursuing Valkyrie in light of this is just classic hopeful myopic greed on CCP's part. That's assuming that SC ever actually comes out and Robert's doesn't just take the money and spend the rest of his life getting drunk in Switzerland & laughing at all the suckers who believed in him.
The Mandate is the one I've got my eye on, but again I doubt it will ever actually get finished, and if it does it will be so long in the future that all the original KS backers will have completely forgotten about it, thus killing most interest before it even begins.
I would say that SC is definitely going to be competition for EvE. Yes, they are two different game types, but I only have so many hours in the day.. and I will surely be giving star citizen a chance. If its everything its setting out to be, I would say that EvE may have a serious contender on its hands. Time will tell.

Wait what?
I though the EvE crowd was too elitist to play these cliche-cookiecutter-gay-fabulous-bad MMORPG. What game offers the dept of EvE? ESO combat looks like both parties are having a seizure, The animations are hurrible.
And for the naysayers, they (apparently) borrowed the skill system from GW2.
And after all that, I am still interested in trying it out, although I will most prolly crawl back to EvE. |

First you talk in general terms: "SC is definitely..." then you substantiate it with your hours limitations? A bit weak of a point, isn't it?
SC is very different from EvE, catering to different player bases, with different objectives and underlying technology. Actually, it's attempt to cater both to "single player gamers" with a side game of MMO is more similar to SWTOR (in approach) than EvE. Also, the SC player will be less "power greedy" than EvE, with less huge politics and similar, another factor that makes EvE... EvE.
Also, one will be about simulation, dogfights, "active play", while EvE is strategy, assembling armies, setting up empires.
I can't see two more different games.

Well, there ARE long unanswered (by CCP) players pleas that SC apparently seems to answer.
In example: why did I stop PvPing in EvE (except trading, which is a sublime form of PvP itself) and now PvP in other games? Because I came to EvE to find small scale PvP that would make me "live again" the epic fun I had in X-Wing, Tie-Figther, their multiplayer versions and other space games. Like many other sci-fi enthusiasts I also love "sims", like space sims, flight sims and so on.
EvE delivered to me in many ways but it did not deliver at all at ships dogfigthing, immersive simulation and why not, KOTOR / Mass Effect alike "out of ship, in station and planetary adventures".
Apparently, "just" a decade too late, CCP decided to start making Valkyrie. But waiting so long was a bad mistake they'll pay a lot, because now they are in the role of "follower" and those who follow NEVER grab the treasure but only the breadcrumbs.
Now CCP have to fight against a company that has $41M (to date) in funding, shows ship models like this (notice it's fitted with "Bulkheads" and you can see them) and shows a concept cockpit like this.
Now, you might say it's all vaporware (let's hope not!) or that those things don't even exist. But the little it's out does not look so bad, despite being just prototypes. Here's what I have shot from my hangar: one of my ships, in some outside and inside views. Shot 2 Shot 3 Shot 4. Auditing | Collateral holding and insurance | Consulting | PLEX for Good Charity
