Hi there, anyone able to recommend a good nightmare setup?
btw, anyone know where I can buy a nightmare bpc / built?

Nightmare got serious cap issue even after the miner boost it've received. I've tried many different setups and ended up fitting a heavy cap injector on it to keep tank going. It worked pretty well in lvl 4 missions but I just don't like to haul around those 800 booster charges. I went for Bhaalgorn and Navy Apoc instead. Anyway, here is the setup that I used and tested.
4 Arb. Cruise launcher
4 T2 dual heavy beam
1 Lif fueled AB
1 Electro heavy cap injector
1 Domination web
1 T2 cap recharger
2 T2 Large armor repairers
3 T2 Hardeners
3 Cap power relays.
You can buy Nightmare bpc and built ship in Escrow. Usually priced around 850m-900m. A built ship usually is around 970m.

This would be a nightmare set up.
High - 3 small nos
Med - 3 small shield extenders
low - 5 basic damage control
Imagine how it would suck to find yourself in a battale using that.
Wherever you went - here you are.

surely having nothing but reactor control units would be worse...heck, nothing at all would be pretty bad.

Wrong, cant be worse than fitting civillian cargo expanders on pvp ships...

A little sad to hear. I guess your energy skills are near / maxed out?
The idea of Armageddon damage with an Apoc tank seemed like a nice role for the Nightmare, given its price.

I came up with a functional setup for a Nightmare, even had tech II weapons, but needed True Sansha gear to compensate for the ****ty CPU.

not really that hard to fit imho, tank it to hell and beyond and just strap lasers + torps/cruise on it

Nightmare used to have raven like cap, then the last patch boosted up to 4750. However, that is still not enough since Nightmare use laser turrets and armor tanking. That requires no less than 5200 cap to run with care. I have maxed out engineer skills and still need to use cap injector in hard missions. I guess if you use nightmare for pvp, you can go full ganking which could be a great fun. For killing rats in 0.0 belts, it can do the job as well. However, for lvl 4 missions, it simply doesn't have to cap to keep tank going.
There is a way to make it work. just it would require near full officer mods. The price tag will run into near 3b mark. Not very practical for missions honestly. The ship looks cool but have little to no use. Bhaalgorn, and navy apoc are so much better. After all, in lvl 4 missions, tanking is more important than damage output.

Actually Navy Issue Megas and Navy Issue Ravens are quite nice. And some of the crazy among us do use them in combat

I've used bhaalgorn in quite a few pvp actions. Using navy apoc/bhaalgorn/navy raven for lvl 4 missions all the time. I know people do the same as well. So nothing new to use them for combat.

Machariel bpcs can be had for 400m and I've seen quite a few in pvp.
