Hey there,
Im wondering if this is a caching there which I can clear. When eve first starts up, the hard drive goes nuts for a good 30-60 seconds. I then notice this in game sometimes as well and can be very anoying.
Is there a way of clearing the cache WITHOUT removing all your bookmark folders?
Cheers

Delete everything in the cache folder except the Settings folder and the prefs.ini file.
Have fun

Yes. Don't delete prefs.ini or the settings folder.

a good one is the:
C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\capture\Gamelogs
directory, dunno why, but clearing out that makes big diff.
Think it reads through all the files before it launches the client.

yeah i've only been playing sinec end of january and there were 50 megs of txt files in the gamelog directory. Only 50 megs you say? well, no its not a lot is it, the problem is it consisted of 6045 files, now thats a lot of hard work for the system to process, so the cleanup will help loads :)

Make sure you've got enough RAM. And consider relogging after refitting your ship. When the client starts eating ram it will easily use up 300 megs of ram, and if you only have 512 and you've got a couple other things open in the background...you're boned.
