Just finished my first level IV - Silence the informant. I flew a Domi with tech2 active hardeners, tanking wasn't the problem, but Ogres . Couldn't believe it, they just decide in the middle of the fight to split and attack something else - I flew Brutix with T2 Hammerheads for level III missions, and, beside the usual- not returning to drone bay, drones worked very well - is this a bug with heavy drones or something?
And, BTW, is this mission among harder or easier level IV's?

Not the hardest, but among the harder ones.

The thing with the heavy drones is not endemic to the heavies - it's just that Ogres are so damn slow. Basically what looks like happens is they take too long to get to target and basically decide that they can't reach it, so each one picks another target semi-randomly.
You never see it with anything but heavies because the other drones all get to target before they time out. It's a "feature" that's actually a bug.

That sounds logical, guess I'll just tell them to "engage target" few times. Thanks for the info
I finished Angel Extra in the mean time, didn't have any problems with Bersekers, but all targets were much closer than the last mission.

I think its a recent bug/feature/change because i have used all sizes of drones for the last 5-6 months and this has only started happening to me also within the last month.

Yes I noticed this too with my heavy ogres.
I agree it sounds most likely a problem with the ogres timing out before reaching their intended target, and picking a new target automatically.
The best fix is to do away with them entirely imo. Field some sentry drones instead and you don't have to worry about it so much (only when they destroy a target and pick a new one... careful they don't screw you).
Continue to use t2 medium drones for whatever else you face up close (i.e. frigates and cruisers).
And NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER deploy drones in Worlds Collide first deadspace zone... you aggro ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING at once the second they begin to attack something. After using the gate to the serp base or to the research outpost, either of those zones you can use drones without a problem. ===== Close encounter of the Hijack kind? Impossible.
Unless it is as bad as I think... And if they were out to get me. |

Ahh I remember the old Damsil in distress mission
Upon entry, you got scrambled by a few frigs. Easy enough to kill with drones.
Till you relised that the drones auto-targeted some nearby scanner outpost, and upon attacking it, you get a full aggro. How entertaining. --- Slot 10 Akemons Modified 'Noble'Zet 5000 implant +8% Armour FREE |
