Gonzo	Posted - 2003.09.20 10:20:00 - [1] Shinana formily of the Keepers of the blue flame today at 6:30 has stolen EVERYTHING our corp has. about 500mill's worth of stuff. we are hunting her down and we need any help we can get. we trusted her and she repays us byruining the corp. we have put nearly 1 mill on her head and im sure we can fix more money for the person who gives us her corpse. early indications showes she is flying a Domonic or a thorax, thankyou for your time Gonzo Keepers Of The Blue Flame Do M0o take orders for T-bone's and 16oz?

I can live with pirates they make the game interesting ( agreed sometimes to interesting lol) but at least you can do someyhing about that. Corp thieves are the lowest though. I suppose this is another factor in this game that reflects real life. If I see Shinana I'll let you know but shes probably switched to an alt. What goes around comes around...

I feel very sorry for your corp and all (not) but seriously, there are more of these stories popping up every week. Varying from a few million worth of stuff to hundreds of millions... So, I'm thinking some CEO's (most?) have figured it out and have sat back and thought, "Hey, you know, maybe I shouldn't fully trust anyone but myself. I'll keep everything of vital importance in my own hangar where nobody else can touch it. I'll keep all the corporation's money in my own wallet, and so on and so forth. Makes sense to me. Sure, it's going to provide you with a little bit of inconvenience (not being able to have other people cue the blueprints at your 10 different factories/research centers) but you wont be faced with a situation like this... Figure it out people. There are a lot of people out there with absolutely no empathy, feeling, or care for anyone but themselves (i.e. Shinana). These people can put on a mighty good show of being trustworthy and just when the fruit is ripe.... Trust nobody. Really. You'll save yourself a lot of trouble. Don't get me wrong, I dont condone this at all, its low, and its completely unacceptable in my opinion, but it doesnt have to happen!! - Pin Point Accuracy The Needle

This is what you do... 1)Dont allow access to any hangar except one corp hangar. 2)Never appoint someone to be able to take anything from the hangars. Only you should be able to do that if you are CEO of course. 3)The one hangar that you left open to the rest is a place where people can output stuff the manufacture of they can put stuff there that they dont want anymore. This is how we keep our corp from thieves...since we were once theives. 4)If someon ask you if they can have acces to one hangar jsut say no and tell the you will get it. This is a really bad way of telling you "why would this person need acces if he know I have acces". 5)If you want to keep youre corp from theft follow these steps and you will have perfect protection from theives...oh and one more thing...dont leave valuable in the hangar that everyone can get too...Its just not safe

Dont trust ppl trough Internet its rule number 1 2 and 3. In every game that involves stuff that ppl collect and takes alot of time. Simple as that.

I was dipping around early on about a month or so ago in a low-level scythe, had just got it not 6 hours before, and I was on my way P3N-E or whatever, 1 jump from Obe, and he pods and pk's me, no ask of mercy, no offer of "toll" nothing, not even a peep on the local. Now I'm not gonna start *****ing about pirates, they are part of the game, and I intend to try my hand at it when I grow big and strong and drink my milk. Generally, if we're going to criticize bad language, could we try doing it without quoting verbatim the original? Otherwise the contrite offender can't completely fix it can he? Oh, and on the original topic, I dislike hanger theft and have been a victim in the distant past, but more recently the set of corp hanger tools and member permissions provided by CCP has been more than enough to protect yourself if you want to be safe. My preferred method is to have a noob hanger that everyone has access to, holding only basic equipment, and cast off small loot that other members have no need for. Other more valuable items I keep in my own hangers, and a small supply might be made available in a medium security hanger to longer-term trusted players (but still no cruisers/Battleships/top-end loot/BP originals. ATM you only need look-level access and factory manager status in a corp to manufacture, so there is no reason why anyone other than the CEO or a Director (a position that is slowly becoming obsolete anyways) should ever have take access to anything worth more than a couple of mil, certainly never BP/BPC take access. Most weapon/ship sharing is best done with the Security Officer option, so that anyone can drop stuff directly into any corp mate's hanger without exposing it to the rest of the corp, and without having take access to that mate's hanger. You always know who you gave it to, and you can always check to make sure it is still there (although you'll need to ask for it if you want it back). If for whatever reasons you elect to leave your best loot items in a corp hanger, or if you elect to leave piles of saleable or recyclable items in a hanger available to most/all corp members, you really are taking a calculated risk, much like a lone indy travelling in 0.0..... Only CEO and Directors have unlimited access to corp hangers UNLESS a member is given specific permissions by these corp officers to do so under the corp window. ATM a new member enters a corp with absolutely no access to anything whatsoever. That was a change made by CCP months ago specifically to block this kind of theft, along with the idea of corp divisions in hangers and wallets. Originally by: Selim Cool, congrats.
