I had an idea about something like an endorsement on your pilots license, that would basically be a PLEX that lasted forever. The idea would be that you aren't necessarily a capsuleer, more like a dust bunny crammed in a ship.
Bear with me because some of these aren't particularly well thought out, but the ideas I was juggling were things like;
Not allowed in hi-sec (?)
Required to transport physical ISK to spend it <3
No remote market/industial access
CAN train skills but CANNOT fly most ships <3
BPLEX could require "sponsorship" from an alliance for specialized cloning facilities, The same way clones in DUST are managed by faction/corporations. There would be expenses incurred at the cloning facility, and possibly income collected by the alliance. (?)
Limited market access, or fees assessed by your alliance
(?) = not sure about these
Tell me again about how every playstyle you dont engage in "doesn't require any effort" and everyone who does it needs to die in a fire. Be sure to mention about how you tried it once but it was too easy/boring/ethnic-homophobic slur.-á |

Really struggling with whether or not a pilot with a BPLEX should be distinguished, and whether or not killing them would be a criminal act. People don't seem to understand how a free to play system work. I will put it in a easy to understand format.
If they can't make money off you through subs, then they will have to find other ways to make money off you, IE cash shops, and expansion packs cost money. I want to see as LITTLE cash shop as possible, thank you very much. |

So basically you want the ability to train up pilots who never undock in Nullsec for cheap, carrier alts, cyno alts, all those null sec alt accounts and -10 pilots that you just contract stuff to directly from your main
And do it at half the price of anyone else. |

You don't seem to understand how this idea works, in order to actually USE the character in a meaningful fashion you need to sub it. CCP loses the initial income for skilling the character up but regains it when players sub/PLEX more accounts as they become useful.

Soooo that's a +1? No... he's painting a picture where, under your system, everyone will be able to create a limitless supply of cheap alt characters that they can use to literally blot out the star in every system in the game for almost every combat related activity.
You think 50 account ISboxer mining fleets run by one guy is bad? Wait until you start seeing 50 guys running 50 "BPLEX" accounts using ISboxer. 250 frigates can wreak some serious havoc.
And no... cost will not be a limitation for rich veteran characters... or alliances.
-1 for the idea. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective.

the way most games with f2p make money is by having ads that only the f2p players can see. they cant get rid of them so they have to deal with it.
If you limit what they can do, then the resources needed would be less than the money ccp gets from the ads. |

I want you to name one game, that uses ads that point to an out of game product, or a product that is not owned by a game company. I what to see this, and is not a cheap arse browser/facebook "mmo." Massive air quotes. |

Oh cool, links to wiki, which by the way can be edit at any time, none of the games in wiki are mmos that have ads, cept for that sony social media game that quickly died out for the PS3, and all the mmos that have expermented with the IGA, as it called on the wiki quickly quit because not only does it cost them money to place those ads there (you know, the fun bandwidth and server storage space they take up)
Oh and the Everquest game, when they did it, they provided a service, you could order through the game to get a pizza! How cool is that, bet they were still getting a cut out of it. And you still had to pay to play the game, that lasted a whole good? What? Oh wait, it never went though it was just an experment. Look at that, you basically debunk yourself with your own proof. Thanks for the update on what I already knew.
Once again, please point me to a single, non-browser/facebook based mmo that uses in game Ads. Thanks. |
