At the moment, I have two main fits for my vagabond, but I'm curious as to what other people are using - I'm always open to there being better options out there than what I'm currently using.
My first fit is a basic buffer fit that uses rigs in place of nanos as follows: [Vagabond, Solo w/Neut] Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II Tracking Enhancer II Tracking Enhancer II
Experimental 10MN Microwarpdrive I Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Warp Disruptor II
5 x 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma M Medium Unstable Power Fluctuator I
Medium Polycarbon Engine Housing I Medium Polycarbon Engine Housing I
Warrior II x5
My second is an XASB fit that loses some dps and the utility of the medium neut but essentially gets the equivalent of a huge buffer tank from the bonused reps and gets about 200m/s more speed with MWD:
[Vagabond, XASB] Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II Tracking Enhancer II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Nanofiber Internal Structure II
X-Large Ancillary Shield Booster, Navy Cap Booster 400 Experimental 10MN Microwarpdrive I Warp Disruptor II Large F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction
5 x 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma M [empty high slot]
Medium Ancillary Current Router II Medium Projectile Ambit Extension II
Warrior II x5
What do you guys use and why? What would you change about the above fits? |

Well you have too many agility/speed mods, the Vaga is already extremely fast so with good skills and decent heat management you don't really need Polys or Nanos.
I have flown the following fit (Which I shamelessly copied from Prom) and it seems to work quite well, I do however find the Vaga fairly underwhelming because of its god awful projection, this basically roots from Medium ACs being **** sadly.
[Vagabond, pewpew] Damage Control II Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II Tracking Enhancer II Tracking Enhancer II
Experimental 10MN Microwarpdrive I Large F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction Large Ancillary Shield Booster, Cap Booster 150 Warp Disruptor II
220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma M 220mm Vulcan AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Phased Plasma M Medium Unstable Power Fluctuator I
Medium Projectile Ambit Extension II Medium Anti-Kinetic Screen Reinforcer II
Warrior II x5
I have also flown this set up which is..... interesting, and certainly gets a few kills when people think they can Ez mode a brawling Vaga;
[Vagabond, 100mn AC] Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II Damage Control II Gyrostabilizer II Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Shadow Serpentis 100MN Afterburner Pith C-Type Large Shield Booster Medium 'Gattotte' Capacitor Booster, Navy Cap Booster 800 Dread Guristas Warp Scrambler
Dual 180mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP M Dual 180mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP M Dual 180mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP M Dual 180mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP M Dual 180mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP M Small Unstable Power Fluctuator I
Medium Ancillary Current Router II Medium Anti-Kinetic Screen Reinforcer II
Warrior II x5
But overall, the Vaga is an underwhelming ship, as I said, Medium ACs are a very poor kiting platform and if you are fitting Arties you may as well use a Cynabal.

I'd agree that brawling vaga's are exceptionally good currently. Oversized AB's make them excellent at escaping from bad situations. I'd say however that you should use 425's and 3x TE's if you really want to kite, as this is the only way to reach a reasonable DPS level from safe ranges.
Personally i think Medium AC's are fine - however with Skirmish links almost everywhere and the proliferation of faction tackle mods, the range of tackle is simply too long. It pushes autocannons into really poor ranges in order to avoid being caught, as generally AC boats are less tanky than blaster/laser boats. |

Learn what hypocrisy means. And stop posting, you're terrible at it.
Danny John-Peter, do you really think the vaga needs no speed/agility mods at all? I haven't done the numbers, but I feel like it would struggle to dictate range against some of the other speedy nano cruiser like the cynabal and shield ishtar without at least one nanofiber. Have you had much experience taking on other nano cruisers in your first vaga fit?
I've never really thought about using it as a straight-up brawler, but i'll definitely look into it with the second fit. |

I dont fly the vaga, but I fly the Stabber almost exactly like DJP's first fit quite a bit. The Stabber definitely needs at least one mobility mod, and I would guess the Vaga does too... I'm probably typing on an iPad, which means the auto-correct is silly and fixing typos is a pain. I ain't fixing them. |

That's unfortunate, I've been looking for good fits and a reason to buy a vega for a while. I just finished training my Hybrid skill and have been branching into T2 projectile skills.
Essentially it's good at grabbing frigs and having decent GTFO ability (Speed / Agility) ? |

It's really good at killing blaster boats if you have the skill to stay out of web range (faction webs can make it a little tricky). The damage application can be rough, but the great speed, excellent resist profile (high em and thermal resist on a shield boat? yes please...) and shield boost bonus give you a lot of advantages in solo or small-gang scenarios. |

Your buffer fit is very easily defeated by my cerberus as proven time and again on sisi in horrorabur 1v1.
The secret is to fit two asb. xl asb is great and all but if you are putting fitting mods on you're doing it wrong. The cerb in question needs a cpu rig but that's really more because the cerb is underwhelming in many ways not the least including fitting. LP store weapon cost rebalance |
