Edited by: ArmageddonX on 09/05/2006 23:55:07 As we all know E3 is going this week and there are tons of new games and exciting things coming in the next year. I was wondering if EVE will have any annoucements or any planned "new" per-say content coming soon that might be announced at e3.
PS. As seen below:
EVE is such a vast amazing game. I don't understand why it doesn't get as much press as the stupid Fantasy based MMO's...
I don't want to be an elf! Or a fairy! I wont play games made for them I may be a Gallente with all Caldari skills but Im not confused enough to spend 3 months to get a +3 agility Boots of Swiftness to go do more "quests" for +2 strength brestplates.
I had the same experience with Planetside. A great game IMHO but didn't get any of the press of the stupid fantasy based games. Makes me angry
Press = Subscribers = Content = Success
The press are annoying that they don't cover any of the alternate non-fantasy MMO's coming out. Like the Star Trek MMO, or Huxley. They focus on WoW (Which is boring), or Evercrap 2.

None of the game-sites are paying any attention yet, though. -------------- What good are actions if there's no one to tell the tale afterward?

EVE ONLINE« REVEALS THE PATH TO KALI Content System Will Empower Customers with Game Universe Destiny Control
ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT EXPO, LOS ANGELES, CA -- MAY 10, 2006 -- The upcoming expansion to EVE Onlineùcodenamed Kaliùwill introduce an innovative Advanced Reactive Content System (ARCS), in which the political landscape and physical borders of nation-states within the game can be altered dynamically through the collective outcome of player actions, thus directly controlling the game universe destiny and resulting storyline.
CCP will also release a newer version of the current award-winning graphics engine for EVE Online, which will take advantage of the latest DirectX 9 features to produce superior imagery and detail than the existing client. This Herculean effort requires that the gameÆs three hundred plus starshipsùeach of which is composed of millions of trianglesùbe remodeled in ultra-high resolution. Players will then see these ships rendered by the power of per-pixel lighting, HDR, and soft-self shadowing.
"Games either provide active content, in which the player reacts to artificial changes in the game universe, or they provide reactive content, in which the entire game universe reacts to the actions that players decide for themselves," said Magnus Bergsson, CMO of CCP Games. "CCP believes strongly that the players should be the center focus of the storyline and control the evolution of the game universe. The Path to Kali will lead EVE Online to great heights in reactive content and further establish EVE Online as the premium free-form MMOG on the market today."
Parallel development of an entirely new graphics engine called "EVE Vista" is also underway. The new graphics engineùnamed ôTrinity IIöùwill take full advantage of the new features and optimizations offered by DirectX 10, which will ship with the new Windows Vista OS. The highly anticipated graphics API will give Trinity II the ability to render far greater detail by leveraging the fully programmable shader pipeline and utilizing the APIÆs built-in instancing support. The combined technologies will allow CCP to continue building dynamic environments with visual effects that will surpass the already stunning graphical presentation of the game.
The final component of Kali will be factional warfare, in which players will have the option to align themselves with an NPC faction. Also included in the Path to Kali will be the opening of new regions in the game universe, the addition of significant exploration content, next-generation player R&D that includes reverse engineering capabilities, additional ship upgrades and player professions, the introduction of combat boosters, and the addition of new warships.
The Path to Kali will begin in Q2 2006 with the first release, and end in 2007 with the factional warfare implementation.

Thanks for the news.
I didn't know they'd be releasing updated graphics before Vista. Sweet!

Eve doesnt get coverage like WoW or Everquest II b/c the media knows you have to actually use your brain to play this game.
All the 13 year old kids playing WoW wouldnt last through the tutorial of this game. Thats why we dont have as many subscribers.
But hey, I like it that way in a way. I get more enjoyment out of this game b/c for the most part everyone is mature and they all know what they are doing. Makes the game seem more "real" you know?
Afterall, what navy would send a bunch of morons out in space to fly their multi million dollar ships? lol

It actually might get very intresting since about 50% of the playerbase is Caldari. It'll be like goonfleet, except with ravens!

Ok, let me get this straight, because im getting mixed signals here. I've seen pics of the "new models" for the ships. Comparing them to the old models, EVE is going to rule. I know CCP is going to do a version for Windows Vista, but will there be a new version for people with Windows XP that will have the new models? Hammerhead (1915 GMT) Looks like some players already found the new screens we have for the press to download. This level of graphic detail is going to be available to pretty much everyone on their current hardware not just people running crazy new graphics cards and quad core CPUs on Windows Vista. - - - - - - - - -

LOL.... yeah.... I have a friend who playes WoW.... I gave him a quick 30 min overview of EVE... he was astonished how in depth but refused to try it. He kept saying stuff like "Insureance?!?!! Scew that!.... Clone what? NO WAY!... Screw that!"... Guess some people enjoy games with all the depth of hitting the next level on their elf so they CAN get the boots of swiftness lol... Dumb fairies...
