I've seen a lot of people who play Eve on their laptops (My CEO did while he was in school, on break now though) and I was wondering if anyone here an tell me if this laptop will play Eve?
I have a Toshiba Sattallite 45a(I think, can't remember the #),
Anyhow, all its basic stats are above the required for EVE except the Videocard, which is what I'm concerned about.
Does anyone here play EVE using an Intel Extreme Graphics Intergrated card? Mine is about 2 years old now, but runs on Windows XP, and has a 2.8ghz processor in it, But the Laptop is designed for student work, not For gaming.

It depends, if your gonna be using it for fleet battles then your gonna have problems. Should be fine for most things though except lots of combat.

I play on a toshiba satellite as well. It's a 1.6 celeron m, 512 ram, and and integrated 64 meg ati radeon 200 m. over a wireless cable internet connection. I have very little lag, only in very high population systems and even then it is minor.
You could always try the free trial and see if your comp can run it for free.

works great on compaq nx7000, even on 1600x1050 its playable, if you dont run into lots of ships or some heavily fitted pos.
but I mostly run in window and it works, if I turn effects off I even can do some med sized fleets If you want luck to smile on you - give it a chance to do so. |

Good to hear this game is pretty well laptop Compatible (and BTW North, hehe I already have 2 accounts, no need to set up a trial account...)
I'll give it a shot tomorrow, Not planning on doing anything major on it, Going on vacation next week, and will be away from Irine (my desktop) and Stuck with Elvira (my laptop) for 2 weeks. I'll be teaching my parents the basics of eve while I am there, and hopefully they will get their own accounts, but I'm not sure of the availabilty of another Desktop, wich is why I was wondering if my laptop will play it.
She does fine with WoW and EQ1, but DX9.0c games are a little tricky, Halo was the only one that i got to play right on my laptop

I play EVE exclusively on my laptop, but I also have a low-end Graphics card, which works just fine for me.
I used to have a laptop with Intel Extreme Graphics Videocard, and I could not play. I could get to the character creation screen, but the card couldn't handle the lighting, so it all I saw was a black screen, with face-like shapes. |

Yeah, i think you should be alright.
I have a 3.2ghz p4 w/ 1gb ram and some crappy intigrated ATI graphics card and eve runs great.

if you have a marginally up to date graphics subsystem and at least 512 meg ram, give it a go I'd say!

hehe I don't see it being a problem for you unless EVE requires Hardware Transform and Lighting as i don't think any intel extreme has that ability.
I currently run 2 windowed EVE accounts on my Toshiba P15-S409 with a 32mb Nvidia FX5100 graphics card with minimal problems... Though for fleet battles i do have to close one of the windows :P
Granted when the new engine comes out it may be another story lol

Right the T&L was the problem I was concerned with, Intel dosen't support it yet.
With ATI and NVIDIA graphics cards, I know they support it, guess I have to wait another hour-thirty before I get home to try it...

As I've seen on my Thinkpad, the game runs fine but the vid card gets hot enough to melt solder joints. Keep your laptop on a surface where the cooling vents aren't blocked.
The game is better played on a desktop when graphics memory is a must.

I play on my laptop, it is a dell Latitude D800 - P3(i think) 1.3 GHz, 512 RAM, and GeForce 4200 Go (mobile card). Game works pretty well, have yet to take it into any crazy fleet battles, but with 12 ships moving about, and probably 15 drones in the area, I have not seen any problems. >>-------------------------<<

I have (quite an old) Satellite Pro, its a Celeron 933, but it does have the Intel Integrated Graphics.
Expect jaggy edges, but it should play reasonably

I loaded Eve on a tablet PC. ya know the kind you use pen instead of a mouse and the screen detatches..has handwriting recognition (sort of a mix between pda and laptop)
it was enough for me to log in and change skills.. even do some mining and trade routes.
im convinced eve will run on anything, maybe even my cell phone :)

I some times play EVE on my laptop who also have an Intel integrated graphic card. Not sure which type though. But it's not really reliable. Most things can be rendered nicely but potraits a generally a problem. Some times they will look ok, other times warped and some times the machine just crashes when trying to render the picture. Other times it crashes due to lens flares.
And by crashing I don't mean a CTD but a whole machine reset. I still use the machine for mining and travel sessions though. ---------------- Main as main can be. |
