I am in a battleship with 4 Mega Afocal Maser 1's and can't beat a cruiser because I blow out it's shield, armor and it turns and runs away. Insta regens all its armor, comes back for more and I blow out it's armor and 80% of it hull and then it despawns.
Either make them adhere to capacitor rules or reduce despawn times please? |

Au contraire ! I find they do indeed prevent despawning. Especially useful for keeping that officer BS / Cruiser around so you can squeeze his officer loot out !

The subject at hand is that she is combatting a Cruiser, not a Battleship, while she is in a Battleship.
Read please.

Well I had a real bad run of officers despawning on me, so got my alt into a vigil with 3 x Scramblers on.
I had a Dread Usurper scrambled for -6 and he still despawned.
So either he has tech II warp core stabs in the lows, or the despawn rules are just a little bit stupid. How hard can it be to check if the rat is engaged in combat and reset the despawn timer?

commander/officer has a big chance to despawn if you kill any of their support first. So just kill the main guy first.

Do you hunt long-range ? NPCs usually only turn around and run away back to their spawn point, if you pull them too far away from their initial spawn point.
Ok, sometimes npcs really despawn and sometimes they jump to another belt. Depends also on what's inside the other belts and on what you do. E.g. if you watch them from 300km and do nothing, there is a high probability that they jump away. Looks like they don't like that.

Thanks for the reply. at least a few didn't do the it's your fault. Do this, this and this diatribe.
I actually did a look and while one moves toward you, the others are spamming you with lock breaks and various gimps. They rotate based on distance. All in all, they are just plain hard to kill. Add that to the despawning, it's a curse. I will just bookmark the system and try with some medium range stuff. They hate 10KM and under and move too fast for 30KM+ Besides, after 3 days I have over 100 Items in hanger and it's all junk, so moving on I guess

Do you hunt long-range ? NPCs usually only turn around and run away back to their spawn point, if you pull them too far away from their initial spawn point e.g. if you pull them 170km away, they don't like it and return. At least belt rats do that.

edit: If too many spawns are attacked / only particially killed in different belts, they start to jump around quite often. And if it exceeds a certain number, it sometimes happens that all rats disappear at once and that all belts are empty.
