Edited by: Zaphod Robotnik on 21/09/2003 00:35:22 Greetings all, especially the resident corporation thief in the British Space Corporation.
Allow me to first explain, for the general populace of EVE. Recently, in a flagrant breach of trust within the British Space Corporation, a previously infiltrated person, still unknown, removed the contents of our Mining Operations hanger - including several Thorax Cruisers and one Apocalypse Battleship, equipped with Miner II's.
These are being held to ransom, apparently. We're being "blackmailed" to the tune of 4,000 Units of Megacyte, and also to post some strange information on this public forum.
However, it's not your ball-game Mr Edwards - we're not playing by your rules. Let us tell you how it is...
The British Space Corporation will NOT be held to ransom by you or any one else who wants to breach the trust of their corpmates, and the command staff
Hanger Rights have been revoked (sadly), a security audit performed, and we have identified all possible security risks.
The minerals you want will not be transfered to you, they will instead be used to create a new mining fleet.
Have your agent leave the corporation, Buster Edwards. You'll get nothing here. Ever.
And if you want to talk, we'll talk. Direct to your agent within the BSC, to our 2IC "Doctor Angry". Any other communication will be ignored - you're not worth the pod-fluid.
Robotnik, out. --

One great way to stop that would be to restrict the game to one character per account. Not perfect I know, but better then what we have...

Oberon Inc. sends its deepest sympathies to our friends and allies of the British Space Corp. This is probably one of the lowest crimes that can be commited in eve. No one is immune to the sick feeling in the stomach when confronted with a betrayal of trust.
We offer any assistance needed to bring some justice to this situation.

I would not like that one bit. After all, what happens if you have a black screen of death on your main character? you can't send a petition to get unstuck. Unless a second option is viable like through the web site. But even then you can't do anything untill you are free.
I have an alt for this problem. when I am stuck in a station or between jump gates I load my alt, petition and then do some mining or agent missions to keep the money flowing so alt's have a good use. It's just a shame that some people feel the need to abuse this system.
You have my sympathy for your losses Zaphod and I wish you well in catching them. ------

More evidence that it should be possible to detect who's an alt and who isn't. You'd never be able to stop people with multiple accounts or long-term sleepers, but just being able knock out the straight alts would go a long, long way.
Personal preference would be the % of skill points from an account displayed with a character. That way you don't know what their skills are, what their alts are called or anything - just that if it shows '5%' then that character is an alt and hence not to be trusted.
Corporate clearouts by spies should be part of the game, but not using disposable volunteers for the recycling chamber.
Good luck with punishing those who benefited from this BSC.

If you want to put a stop to that, end ebay selling. Poor people on here will always steal billions of ISK for the thousands of dollars they can get for it out of game. Wrecking game play and ending countless accounts.

What would be even better is the option to get security logs for corp hangers, so any transfers from the hanger would be recorded and logged by the servers.
Since this would place a huge data-storage/bandwidth burden on CCP, perhaps an alt. server for this kind of log that your corp has to pay real money for, I'm sure all the serious players would stump up ~$5/month for such a service.

the CEO alt thing was probly seen as pointless since must like with Mankind most the people that do things like that buy second accounts funny when you think of how they go on for hours justifing their actions yet spend extra money to hide

Sorry to hear about your problems.
As far as I can see, the only way to stop this sort of thing happening with alts would be to log the IP addresses of characters, both in game, and on these forums.
There are 10 sorts of people in the world - those who understand binary, and those who do not. |

One way to screen for alts is to have the player eve mail you from his other 2 alts. If he doesn't have 2, have him make them. Then you can keep tabs on the alts to find out what corps they are in. His alts would have to quit their corps if they're spying for a rival. And he'd have to stay quit in case you checked once in a while. -- minmatar.net - United Minmatar News & Forums |

Press Release : Thief/Spy Identified and Ejected
Tash-Murkon Region - After thorough investigation, including assistance from the Secure Commerce Commission, the British Space Corporation has positively identified and fired their corporate spy/thief.
Unfortunately, the items lost have not been recovered at this time, as not all of this thiefs "agents" have been identified.
Without further ceremony, we release the following information into the public domain...
Primary Agent : Dog Child Secondary Agent : Mr Bridger Tertiary Agent : Buster Edwards
The infiltrator Dog Child has been ejected from the BSC and is marked as Tier Three Negative by all our employees (KOS).
We urge all other corporations in EVE to neither accept Dog Child as a member, or to allow his clone any further existance.
About the BSC The British Space Corporation are a multi-racial company based in and around the Tash-Murkon Region of the Amarr Empire. Specialising in high-end ship construction and fitting, the BSC were one of the first corporations to start producing the Moa-class Cruiser in Amarr Space. http://eve.britishspacecorps.co.uk/ --

I would suggest the following method of securing your corporations, even though it isn't entirely foolproof:
Screenshots of character selection screens, sent to an email address that the CEO controls.
There are many methods of completing this task. Some are more palatable than others. With this screenshot idea, you each can decide if this is something you would wish to do for your corp, and decide for yourselves which way you would prefer to accomplish it.
For instance, if I had a problem, I would conversate with each member of my corp one on one, and explain the circumstances, have them log off immediately, and perform the screenshot and send the email under penalty of removal. And request that they not tell any other corp members what may be coming.
I already request the screenshot of all prospects.
Or if you aren't having a problem, have each of your current members send a screenshot of their character selection screen to a specified email address. Include in the eve-mail all instructions for completing this task. And of course, have any new members or stated alt characters send in the screenshots.
I would also make sure that you expel any inactive members as well, as they may be "sleepers". In fact, I would go through all of your personnel roster upon reading this, to make sure that nothing has been changed or edited that you don't desire to be. Hopefully, you as a CEO or Director would have proper and appropriate permissions set on each of your corp members.
Regards,
