I was recently podded. I lost four +3 implant during a war that my corp was involved in .6 space at a gate. I also had 3 other implants for armor and shield bonuses.
reguardless, it left me with a very bad feeling for the game. Ive hoarded a lot of ISK. I recieved all my implants through agent missions. I own 2 rifters and a fully equipped machariel. I lost a battlecruiser fully equipped.
In my wallet I have 46mil. I have 6.6 mil sp and 92 skills. I focus on battlecruisers (minmatar) and battleships (minmatar and gallente). I have a 5.03 with the minmatar republic and a 9.9 with the brutor tribe (im a mission runner) I run level 3 missions QL 19. I have numerous lvl fours which I havnt started (until my lvl 3 is a solid 10)
I am currently without a corp. I barely have any exposure to pvp..very minimal and I want to train in pvp. What kept me from PvP were my implants..the entire reason im bitter to begin with. Its very ironic.
My dilemma? I want to keep playing. I want to buy back or earn my implants I lost, however I want to learn PvP thoroughly. I dont have access to jump clones (that I know of) without being in a corp with the standings I need (since my standings are only with the brutor I guess i need to find a corp who is also liked by them?)
I want to keep playing, I want to work further in battlecruisers mainly followed by battleships. I dont want to be bothered by losing my implants in PvP but I want implants to improve my training times.
Can anyone mentor me a bit? ive not been in the game that long and I know I shouldnt be as bitter as I am. Ive invested a lot, but I feel very passionate about the game and hate the thought of losing again what I just lost.

I'd strongly recommend you not buy any more implants.
Seriously, implants and PvP don't mix unless you use jumpclones, and even then its a huge hassle.
I have billions of ISK and I can't be arsed to put in +1s anymore, let alone +3s. Skill points aren't the be-all-end-all of EVE.
PvP in something cheaper, and don't use implants. Don't be afraid to lose what little you fly.

thanks a lot for replying. I respect you a lot. you're not the first person ive heard say not to bother with implants.
currently my attributes are int 16 per 23 cha 15 (8 hours from 16) wil 20 mem 15
all my learning skills are to advance IV with the exception of CHA. No implants. so basically what I should do is not worry about my implants..forget my loss and work on my skills in PvP? maybe focus more with frigates then for now? actually, that sounds like a more entertaining goal then just aiming for the biggest ship I can pilot..

I gotta agree with what Dark said....even though he is FIX. :)
Go out and PVP with what ever ship you are strongest with. If you are stongest with a Cruiser, go out with that. A tech II Cruiser can do a hell-of-alot of damamge to ships. You'd be surprised.
If you are serious about PVP, don't buy implants. Be prepared to loose a lot of ships in PVP. It happens. If you hook up with a good PVP corp, then they can teach you a lot.
Loosing a ship is frustrating, but its all part of the game. One day you'll be on the other end of the spectrum. Its worth it in the long run. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm gonna ignore what ds posted and post a straight reply here.
I've lost a full set of +3s 3 times in 1 day. After that I was kinda numb to losing implants because I knew it could never get that bad again.
Everytime you lose implants just stop playing, take a walk get something to eat or drink, and try to not think too much about the loss but what you can do the next time you face a situation like that.
Everyime you see that your tank is failing keep shooting at the guy of course and click a planet or something in space, once you see your structure is going down click warp to repeatedly very fast on the warp to button in the top right of your overview. This has saved me numerous times.
Also don't blame your corp, this happens to all corps except the ones that never pvp.

Im serious about PvP because its what made me bitter to begin with. It's something I lack in this game that I really love doing just missions in.
So I hear PvP is even better, and I felt insecure in participating due to losing my implants. I still want to be a primary mission runner but I have to learn PvP.
I guess I just needed the assurance that most people who play dont have a boat load of implants. I guess I should just realize that my early gain of +3 implants was enough to get my skills where they are now in order to better prepare myself for my future PvP experiences like the rest?
..thats me seeing the silver lining in my podding :)

I completely support the use of smaller ships. It makes things far more fun.
A few things I've found in PvP about the use of various size ships:
1. In large ships, you generally cannot dictate the course of a battle. When you're in a battleship and the enemy is in a cruiser, he is going to run unless he has the support to beat you. Thus unless you can get enough tacklers and gankships to take him out before he escapes, you've lost--no kill. Thus, any successful fight with a large ship is nearly guaranteed to be a gank of some sort.
2. In small ships, people are far more likely to attack you, as your enemies often also will fly small ships. They're more willing to risk their ship to attack something they might win against. Here, of course, is where you fit in the art of fitting a cheap ship to fight like a more expensive one, thus luring enemies into what they thought was a fair fight but really isn't.
Some cruisers commonly fitted like this are the Caracal, Vexor, and Maller. Often these ships are fully kitted with tech 2 and are nearly as scary as a HAC, yet cost a mere 5-10m to replace. Some people do the same with T1 frigates--a kestrel with rockets and a medium shield extender II is scary and costs a mere 1m to replace, but can defeat ships costing 10-20m (inties and AFs). Even if you lose 2/3 of the time, you'll probably still earn money off the loot from your enemies, let alone diminish their bank accounts!
Don't worry about your skill points or attributes--worry about having fun. Find yourself a corporation where you can go for your goals... and go for them!

*nods* I never blamed my corp. I blamed myself. However, I did feel a bit of resentment toward them. I removed myself to keep my BS safe. You brought up a good point. |

Another hint: turn off effects and turret effects before you die. This will help save your pod.

I have lots of fun in PvP in ships I really don¦t mind to loose and a jumpclone without implants. The "learning clone" with implants never undocks.
It¦s actually quite easy to install jumpclones, especially for a mission runner. As soon as your personal standing with one of the npc corps gets to 8+, create your own one-man corp and after some days you have the necessary 8+ personal & corp standing. The needed skill is just some hours training time.

thanks all (especially dark)
Ive reconsidered a few things, I got some new objectives to meet..which in turn will make this game a lot more fun for me
im trying to reconnect with my old corp and hopefully learn a few more things about Eve
I think I'll start supporting my corp with cruisers and frigates aiding them during their missions so we can get jump clones. also support them more during pvp op's and quit worrying about my implants. after all, that was my downfall.
thanks for letting me vent

Voodoo, the best advice I can give is to never get too attached to in-game possessions.
Eve isn't like other MMORPG's, when you die, you lose your stuff.
INCREDIBLY stiff death penalty.
That being said, you can either leave stuff in your hangar and never use it, or you can enjoy it while you can. You will lose stuff sooner or later.
I lost a mission running Raven a year or so ago that had about 1.9 billion worth of modules on it, because I did something retarded.
Yeah, I was angry about it for a day or so, but ultimately a corpmate was kind enough to point out that I was mad over a bunch of digital bits and code.
It realy put it into perspective for me.
Implants are nice, but like everything they can be pretty easily lost.
I used to run with implants, but I would just die after a week or two and would lose them.
The only time I plug in implants is if it's a freebie, and I can't be assed to sell it.

1) Fly only what you don't mind losing. If you undock with it, its already lost. 2) Voice comms 3) PVP corp 4) No Implants ever 5) Fly in gangs 6) Read Sun Tzu and Machiavelli 7) Most importantly have fun, fight the good fight and don't take the game seriously
Just go do it and don't look back.
