Of course greed is good!
Its greed that makes the miners fit for max yield instead of tank.
Its greed that makes the mission runner fit billions in officer/deadspace mods.
Its greed that makes the freighter pilot pack his hold with billions in goods and PLEX.
Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

Actually that's just laziness. A great American humorist and author recently said: "The one unintentional flaw of the internet generation is its ability to give the stupidest segments of our population the loudest voices." I have a tendency to agree with his statement.-á |

Greed is fine, with strangers. It's when you cross that line and do it with people you interact with it starts getting tacky. It's the gloating side that turns people off - OK you won, ding ding. No need to **** off about it for a hours tho, christ, get a life :P - |

Actually that's just laziness.
Its laziness that makes the miner go AFK or bot.
Its laziness that makes the mission runner let his sentries clear the room for him, and MTU clean up for him.
Its laziness that makes the freighter pilot turn on Autopilot and go AFK. Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings? |

It's mental gymnastics to excuse ones own behaviour. In all scams the scammer is responsible. He sets the trap and using manipulative/lying behaviour lures in some gullibe person. People like to see themselves as good people even when they are not and use any excuuse to maintain that image. Even blaming the victim. |

What many fail to see is that even "good people" do bad things. What many fail to see is that there does not have to be a "good" person and a "bad" person in any given exchange.
Also, "greed" is usually kept from distinct from, say, "ambition" or "self-interest" because it's used to imply an excessively risky or self-defeating emphasis on acquiring as much wealth as possible as quickly as possible. You can be much more materially successful than a greedy person simply by being clear-headed and patient. You're much less likely to fall for scams that way, as well.
That said, the responsibility for a con lies with the con artist. The person conned must have made a mistake, because otherwise the con wouldn't have worked, but we're all vulnerable sometimes. If the con hadn't been set up, nothing would have happened. Proud founder and member of the Belligerent Desirables. |

That is because we allow our opinions to be shaped by what people say, rather than what they do.

This bothers me.
Greed is what makes eve work. It is what inspires people to build corporations and empires and conquer territory. Sure, sometimes this means going after easy targets. But that is part of the game.
Greed is a good trait to have and it should be encouraged.
Chastise people for not being quick enough to spot a scam.. But don't try to make them feel bad for being greedy.
The problem isn't greed. Its(typically) stupidity. |

I forgot to be greedy before the Rattlesnake buyouts. So now I'll only be 35% greedy instead of 95%.
