Unable to connect again
Looks like it crashed as soon as it was brought up, not a good sign...

yeah, got same problem here with 'proxy not connected'
it has been doing it for about half an hour and then it looked like they rebooted the server but as soon as the reboot completed - it went back to proxy not connected.
looks like they may be trying a reboot again now.
this is the third time recently that i have come to play and found nothing but problems - thinking about ending my subscription!! Whats the point in paying for a service that is unreliable.

Patience, James. When upgrading hardware, issues are to be expected. I'm sure the guys are working hard on fixing whatever's causing the proxy issues. Just give them a little time.

James, EVE is usually very reliable. We had a major back end upgrade the other day, so as is customary, problems and tweaks are inevitable. Be a trooper and hang in there.

well... i don't think they are incompetent to work with these systems... or that this problem could be forseen... sometimes the load on the servers gets to heavy... and they weren't tested for this... you can't test a lot of active connections without the people to test it... it does suck that the server crashes... but i have all confidence they will fix this, relativly soon... We've come to witness the beginning, the rebirth of paradise despoiled by mankind...... |

This might be a good time to say hello to your family and friends. You know...let them see that you are still alive.

Same with me. Disconnected. Proxy not connected. Then hope! Countdown to restart... Oops, countdown is gone, back to "Can't connect".
I've got a Covetor, a bunch of drones and a can of ice floating around out there somewhere that I hope are still there when I can get back on.
Yeah, we've all thought of cancelling but only during times like this. When it works, it's fantastic - but Eve is extremely unreliable. Fire the lot and bring IBM in to run the whole thing!

Trying to be cool... Took a cold shower even. Still can't seem to log in...
This isn't normal, but I guess it will take some time. Will take time for someone to sort whether it's a hardware problem or a software problem.

well i've been playing 2 weeks now and this is the first time this is happened to me, i work in networking for aliving and u will always get problems like this, especially with new hardware upgrades.... It's the chance we take playing an online game eve isn't alone in the world of online crashes....

Hi Erik,
Yeah - i know this. I maintain over 40 servers in a datacentre myself that run a very large scale product so i know the hassles with trying to swap out hardware - its a nightmare..
It just seems that i have been trying to play recently every time they have had problems and its winding me up a little.. The fact that i dont get much chance to come on here in the first place makes it even more annoying.
But hey, like you say - they are probably working like mad to fix it so i should probably shut up complaining and give some support.
Hopefully it will be back online soon and this will all be forgotted about very quickly.
I am smiling really.

Funny you mention that about family and friends since I'm vacationing with them. Yet what am I still doing? Playing EVE during downtimes... LOL!
Still, while I understand server issues being inevitable, its a bit disconcerting when you get bumped and you have jetcans and ice just laying there...
Time will tell I guess

Ah, maybe not.
Got errors authenticating now. Probly not got all servers running yet, i guess it may work in a few minutes.
I notice they just changed the notice on the logon page to 'we are looking into the current issues'

I am amused that someone thinks this is worth ending their subscription over. For those of you who think CCP has bad customer service / communication / Uptime / etc. try playing a game by SOE... they may be the biggest in the business but their overall customer experience sucks because they really don't care.
CCP has been a sterling reminder of what customer satisfaction is about. If you have an issue with the amount of downtime lately, don't just quit the game - submit a petition. You will get a quick response and you won't be disappointed with the results. I personally know of a person who has been playing for free for 6 weeks because of various issues that CCP has had with billing. They really understand that this game is about us. They only make money if they can sustain their subscription base and make us happy. If you want an example of a game that is failing because these things are not understood, look at The Matrix Online. To me, CCP is the example that should be held up before all other MMOs. Great game, great content, great customer service. Anyone who would cancel their subscription over a little downtime after a major upgrade is a child throwing a tantrum.

Compared to WoW, EVE is as reliable as the NYSE.
Although, WoW is so bad that ain't saying much.

Hi Nickodeemus,
You are very right. The fact of the matter is that the game is down now and we have nothing better to do than sit and moan about it on the forums. (at least i dont at this very moment in time.)
I think this game is excellent and the technology is impressive. Particularly from a network/development point of view, being a developer of large scale network applications myself, this is an ambitious project in the first place and they have done very well to pull it off.
CCP seem to be a very nice company and im sure they do put a lot of effort into making sure things run as smoothly as possible. I have not had need to contact them for any kind of support but i dont believe that they would disappoint.
