Edited by: Cassius Brutus on 13/05/2006 15:16:40 I'm training to be a miner and I always have one problem. The places where I mine my ore are a good number of jumps from where I refine/sell it. I currently have a badger II, but only have Caldari Industrial lvl 2 (which only gives me ~ 9,000 m cargo space). Would taking the time to train for a charon be worth it? I could just pile it all up at the station I'm mining at then take it all at once to refine it (I lack decent refining skills so I have to haul the ore to a station where my corpmates with perfect skills can refine it).
Right now it would take me a long long time to haul that much ore in a badger II. BTW, charon training requires Caldari Industrial V, which would expand my badger's hold anyway, but I still don't think that would be enough.
What do you guys think?

Erm, how can you fly a Badger Mark II, with it's requisite of 3 in Caldari Industrial, with only 2 in that skill ? Must be a typo ...
The time needed to train for a Charon might be worth it, IF you have the billion for the ship and the 120 millions for the skills needed for it ...
It would cost less ISKs (but take a bit more time) to raise your refining skills, the "perfect" refine can be attained with Refining 5, Refinery Efficiency 3 and the specific Processing 2, provided the station is a "50 base" one.

A freighter is a very strong investment, with prices for one being around 900million isk. If you can afford do it, but it doesn't seem a good idea to get one just to haul minerals.
You'd probably be better off investing that sp and money into a covetor or even a hulk.
It might have changed, but I remember from my n00b days that the badger used to be the worst industrial around. You can train amarr industrial lvl1 and you will be able to fly a bestower, wich will give you better capacity, you can also train minmatar industrial IV and fly a mammoth or Gallente V and fly and iteron, any of those options should give you better results than a badger mkII. ---------------------- (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. its going to be a lot of ore to pay for a charon.
For hauling, go for an iteron 5 (very big cargo, but a fair bit of training) or a mammoth (much bigger than badger II, not much training)

I have Caldari Industrial 3 - I just named it off the top of my head since the server was down. I'll look into the varying industrial ships of other races. In the meantime I'll just get my c.i. skill up. Thanks everyone.

frighter cant grab cans so if you have no station there you will still need the badger to get the ore to the frighter ------------------------------------ fix eves industrial sector!

hes talking about using the freighter to haul enormous amounts of ore to where he can refine it better, not using the freighter to jetcan mine

They are good investments just not cheep.. worth it if you mine in 0.0 and you can get transport ships too, which dont pop so easily when rats shoot at you
