I think they require formal eduation at university level. Also, I don't think their Human Resources department is actually getting their emails... I've sent two emails and not had a single reply.

I wonder just how many job applications CCP gets for their various positions. It'd be pretty interesting to see how many people have applied for different jobs.

Edited by: Kordesh on 13/05/2006 17:25:36 I wish I could have taken a networking concentration for my Info Sci bach. Hell, I've taken enough networking classes to technically fall under their networking associates degree in addition to the one I am taking. My uni freaking dropped the major and the concentrations have minimal support until they can be finally phased out when my class graduates. Basically, I got stuck into doing applications programming as my concentration, which I personally HATE because I am not a fan of writing code -_-. Basically, I have a concentration I don't want/won't use. Fun /= ------------------------------------------- "What's it like being a turtle?" ok, some useful tips
1) EVE, both the client and servers, run on windows 2) 95% of EVE is written in stackless python, so download it and get learning (it's a ******* fantastic language btw) 3) If programming isn't your thing, begin reading up on SQL Server. 4) Good luck!

No, but come back in twenty years time.
Seriously though, CCP should be looking towards talented and experienced staff, though there might be a minor role going someplace.
Yes I know you can get talented and experienced 12 yr old programmers, but have you seen how a gifted experienced 52 yr old one can wipe the floor with them..

You know, there's this thing, called an intern...
And CCP has positions for them, so those with some abilities but not walking gods of gaming knowledge, can show their stuff, and if good enough, get hired.
Experience > education and all, but it's not like someone who just got out of school for programming can't become useful, hence internships and such.

I'm kinda disappointed in their job listings.... I'm very proficient at swinging a nerf bat but I see no openings for that. In fact I own and have many yrs experience in the nerf bat/ball set!

Its nice to hear CCP have intern positions available, so few companies these days bother to train up staff, they all want someone already skilled.
Maybe its just a British thing..

Edited by: Vegetto Ichikai on 14/05/2006 17:07:14 Im afraid a Bachelors in I.T. is completely useless in the job market, even though the modules cover various specifics, its just not what people are looking for. Unless you goto a major university and get a high grade (Then it doesnt matter what subject its in :)).
In fact, although i haven't asked him yet, i think my pet spaniel has one, although i believe he stopped at the HND level and hence now is working as the guy who sleeps on my bed and craps on the lawn, so its not all a loss.

My question to your question is this...
why the hell would anyone want to work in a field thats WAY under PAID and over slave driven and horrible crunch atmospheres...
The gameing industry is no field I wish to work in ever, it is a low balled cheap field, to exercise skills in, and make a sensible living......LOL...for that fact I dont work for OTHER people....and gaming is corporate to the bone..(and you thought they made just good old fashioned fun games for the hell of it cause they love games)
if you make graphics or do IT choose any field but gaming...its the lowest paid slave driven wage IT field and its not getting any better any time sooner.....
but what the heck...go for it ...do it because you LOVE games and let them burn you to oblivion with promises of "sweat equity" all fed off your desire to do something you might really like...
If I was makeing a career choice gaming is about the last place I would look from a business stand point of view...to become employed...

Also sorry to ask, but what does an IT Tech degree entail?
I do a Comp Sci degree and the IT or Computing people usually have classes like 'IT in the developing world' etc.
All very enjoyable I'm sure, dunno how employable it makes you though. :s

Its not about what you know... its about how you can convince someone you know what you say you do.
Personally, even though I could go for several of their Developer Jobs... I'd rather do the kitchen assistant.
