I've been comparing these transports forever now, and i can't decide if the faster ones that have the +2 warp stab outweigh the larger ones that have better protection. I plan to use it in low sec space, so i need it to survive a pvp attack long enough to warp out. I know everyone says just keep an eye on local, but in case for some reason i miss it, i just want to be sure that i can survive an attack long enough for my tank to handle things.

Well if you need something to escape more then you need something to haul lots, go for Blockade Runners.

I love the Viator.
2500m/s, warps nearly instantly with nanofibers, 3750m3 cargo hold, plus two WCS.

Also something that I was considering, is that if i lost one of the big ones, that baby cost like 70-80mil, where as the smaller faster ones only cost about 25mil.

Of all the blockade runners, it also has the second-largest cargo hold, is the fastest/lightest, is a shield tanker so your lows are free for nanos/stabs, and has the best natural shield-tanker resists.
Prowlers win hard.
To the OP, yeah, stick to the blockade runners unless you plan on kitting a transport ship up with a bunch of named expanders and using it just in empire. 9.0au warp speed = incredible amounts of win, and speed will save your ass a lot more than tankability when it comes to running gatecamps in 0.0.
