Edited by: backcaster on 14/05/2006 10:39:23 I have been trying to set a BM between two warpable points that are 32 AU apart. I cant seem to figure out the best time to click the "add benchmark" button in people and places. I have tried just as the warp starts and during the warp. Each time I always end up within 1 mil kms from either point instead of in the middle. During warp, when is the best time to set the BM

The moment you go into warp, the distance to your destination appears at the bottom of your sreen over the round control thingie in the middle.

Note that the actual place where your new bm will take you is based on the spot you're currently on when you finish creating the bm, not when you click the "add bookmark" button. ________________________________________________ My signature exploded :/ |

Edited by: Jim McGregor on 14/05/2006 11:25:21 I think the whole system is flawed myself. The game should allow me to warp a specified distance in any direction (within system limits of course - not going off the grid).
Its really awkward to have to use bookmarks with the trial & error method to get where you actually wanted to be.

Its not when you click 'add bookmark' that matters, its when you click the 'ok' button after 'add bookmark' that determines. Its very possible that lag is to blame as to why you cant get a bm any further out. ___________________________ Brutors Rule! My Eve-vids; Click. |

I've had this problem for ages, it's a lag thing. When you click 'ok' you'll lag out so tha actual bm ends up nearer the end of your warp. Best way is to create the bm as soon as possible after you begin warping.
But yeh I agree, rubbish.

What I do is click Add as soon as I enter warp, type the description (short!) and then click OK as soon as the distance in AU starts to drop. By the time the bookmark is created I'll be 10-15 AU away from the first gate. If the gates are close together, then what I do is select the gate I'm warping away from and hit add as soon as I'm 500km away from it. Works for me, but your mileage may vary ;)
