I really like this game so far. I'm frustrated with losing connection to the server all the time (about every 4-6 minutes).
Is there a not-online version of this game? I know a lot of people think that's about the lamest thing in the world. Maybe it would really suck to not be connected with all these thousands of other people playing at the same time. That really appeals to me.
I'm so irritated with getting disconnected so frequently. Maybe it's my local connection that keeps getting lost. I'm on a regular old cable connection. I don't experience problems with browsing, but that's a little different than this game.
Any ideas? efforting . . . |

Well if it was the game servers im sure wed be seeing multiple threads about the same problem so im gonna have to guess that the problem might be on your end and probably your isp as it is in most of these cases. Unfortunately there is no off-line version of eve to play so your stuck there as well im afraid.

I've never had such a problem--have you checked to see whether its your ISP?

Check out some of your internet settings. Some drops are caused by inactivity time-outs and Eve doesn't send very much data if you are just sitting in a station and such.
Other than that, speak to your ISP and get them to run through a few diagnostic checks with you. Maybe they require some protocol settings to maintain a strong connection.
Try some other thigs like temporarily disable your firewall to see if that cures it. I had to disable my Router native firewall to play Eve because it kept interfering. I now use Mcafee firewall on my PC instead and hardly ever drop the connection.

Try streaming music from one of those online radio stations (like www.eve-radio.com) with Winamp or whatever program that tickles your fancy while playing Eve. If you lose your connection with both services then either your computer or your ISP (likely ISP) are having problems. If it is just Eve then the internet backbone in your region is probably having a hard time getting connected to the Eve servers in London. Don't know what you could do then other than to report it to your ISP and wait it out.
I don't think it is the Eve servers themselves that are the problem, otherwise you'd be seeing a lot of people complaining about being dropped on the forums. It wouldn't be the first time that happened. ___________________

it may be your internet connection or hardware problem. i had this same problem 18months ago and ckecked everything i could at my end and no result in a fix...it turned out to be my acctual phone line that goes to the main jack was damaged because it was outside.... ring your telephone company like BT and get them to run a line test to check if there are anyproblems between you and the telephone exchange... there are only 3 points it can be if your the only one on the street thats dropping, the connection where it branches off to your house...your main plug....or the extension if you have one that your using.... hope this helps

The only thing I would add is I've heard of a few people having problems running Winamp and Eve for some reason. So you may want to try windows media player or something too. ------------------------------------------ I refuse to use a sig until my avatar is up.
