There was I doing my bit for the furthance of our corp, minding my own business locking down a couple of giant containers in a low geo stationary orbit around a local moon.
My sensors started picking up stray tachyon pulses and the next thing I know the worm hole has formed and pulled my backwards through space.
I came to drapped over the ships main console, checked on the crew then tried to determine where I had arrived.
The scanners say that i have been thrown 407,200 au's from the closest gate. We are starting out now, if anyone gets this message please relay it to a GM. We will be repeating this message hourly. We have included an external scan of our last know position so that in years to come at least the ship may be salvaged.

Fear not fellow traveller, this happened to me too. At over 4000au from the Dital's Sun, my Industrial vessel finally came to a halt. We remained there and were rescued by a GM vessel that happened to be passing via Dital. The phenomenon is still unexplained but thankfully it hasn't occured to us since then. It was also possible to attempt a warp back into the system however, inexplicably, in the opposing direction unlike the original anomalous warp, it was impossible to travel the entire distance in one jump.

muhahahaha i know what youy guys did. and friend of mine and i did it aswel (on purpose though) to see who got the fartest we got over 700 au with a single warp :P. anyway here is what you did. you prolly bookmarked the system. correct? you also bookmarked the moon the containers are around. correct? (or any other bookmarked object you wanted to go to) then you misclicked but did not notice it. you accidentilly clicked warp on the XXXXX(solar system) bookmark. this cuases youre ship to warp to the *center* of the system (well it should do so but it just makes youre ship warp in 1 direction and yell never make it to the point youre going to)

Wodka, whilst the situation you describe might cause the effect we have suffered I can assure you of this.
We were just finishing the securing of the containers and hadnt yet reached the point in the procedure where we bookmark the system. also when you right click on a container you dont get a 'warp to' option.
It appears I am 400k au from anywhere by a freak occurance. I have faith a deep space GM rescue ship will find us.

Yes warp to Solar system can bring you around 1000 au from sun. My BO doing 1200 au from sun thanks to my skills. But 400k AU is something completely diferent at speed 2au/s he would fly 55 hours back to sun! So he is really in deep space and some GM rescue ship must be send to his direction.

Wodka... 700au, and 400,000 au, is a big difference, thats alot more then 1 or 2 warps... check the screenshot again, ive warped to the center of systems, no system is 400,000au big.

We agree with you assesment however my science offer is trying to get a stuck petition out however he is not sure how quickly it will get through as we are experiencing a lot of sub space interference due to being very close to a blue giant.
Science officer Clik has pionted out however that we are only 6816 jumps from the gate and each jump is taking about 2 minutes so we WILL be at the gat in 227 hours.

Wahooooo we are rescued, my science officer got through to a gm rescue ship and we returned to port however shortly there after I gated into CLAINI and due to an imbalance in subspace discovered the opening to another worm hole.
I must say its very quite out here again.
Nothing but empty space

You think 400k is bad?!
TRY 6,600,000 AU!
Yes, that's right, I got flung 6.6mil AU from the nearest object at PF-346, had to self destruct my battleship and self destruct my pod to arrive in a clone at the station ;D
If you can do this for say.. 1000 au, and get a bookmark, I'd say that would be an awesome spot to drop a station.
Yes, 5-6 hops with warp, but quite far out of scanner range (~15au) and no way to triangulate the position. _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. "Can I be a consultant for EVE II?" - WhiteDwarf |

Edited by: Flarin on 21/09/2003 20:08:53 I bring grave news.
In a freak coincidence whilst securing a container today my Badger was also slingshot into the depths of space. At one point our sensors detected speeds in excess of 4.6AU/s. Fortunately our ship staggered to a hault within a few hundred AU of the main system, and so we were able to warp back to safety within a couple of minutes.
My fear is that somehow the planc technology used within the cargo containers is in some way failing, releasing enormous forces on our ships.
On a side note we chose to bookmark the far off location and plan to use it as a shrine to assorted gods.
EDIT: Here's a sensor scan the computer managed to save during the journey: SENSOR LOG 45052 ---------------------------

lol, I've got a lovley bookmark that takes me 'buggerknows' how many AU from the centre of a system.
Think I'll build a station there  =========================================

Well so far we have a container containing a welcome message if ever against all probability it is found. Oh yes, and a shuttle parked next to it to give an air of mystery to the place.
But who knows what vast city could be built in the depths of space, knows only to a few.. If only we could export some asteroids out there.

Edited by: Benco97 on 21/09/2003 20:30:39 I too have had this problem but nowhere near as bad as you guys have :) I was warping to the Aidart jumpgate in Cistuvaert whilst in my Iteron mkIV, once the warp had finished my ship was flung sideways at tremendous speeds.Thankfully it only lasted for a couple of seconds and it only took about 10 mins to warp back to the jumpgate. -------------------------------------------- NEW! 1/1 scale assembled plastic model benco97, Six different poses, Buy one NOW!*

Yeah, the collision physics of secure cans is royally FUBAR.
Take a guess why that 5 km drop limit is in there - If you bump some cans closer together than that before anchoring, you can reliably send yourself flying at anywhere from 50 km/s on up merely by approaching the can.
Best I was able to do was about 50 AU/s - wound up 650 AU out from anything else in Penirgman.
Thank God I was in an indy. ------------ Ezra Cornell pe0n, Xanadu Corporation |
