(I was just tossing around some ideas rather than talking about a real corporation, so I'm not sure if this belongs here or in the corp discussion forum. Move it if need be.) Quote: A biotech company founded by the eccentric Todo Kirkinen, the first man to have his mind transferred into a machine. Zainou has from its inception been at the forefront of bio-chemical and nano-mechanical research, its headquarters are described as a combination of a mad scientist's lab and a jungle zoo.
Since the technology has been developed to 'create' sentient machines (see above), I've wondered why such a radically new technology hasn't been developed or refined? There is no mention what-so-ever in the backstories (other than that single paragraph) about intelligent machines or the story of what happened to Todo Kirkinen, so theres no indication the technology is flawed or incomplete in any way.
In theory, since people would no longer be bound by the restrictions of the human body, intelligence would no longer be trapped in a brain of limited size, and could be expanded indefinitely through computers and upgrades -- in theory.
I was fooling around with the idea of starting a sort of corporation -- a sort of technocracy composed of think tanks and scientists all who've had their minds transferred to computers (which could be installed inside a capsule). Upon 'death', the computer would simply send the home station a snapshot of the memory (as opposed to a brain) and then could be downloaded into a new capsule computer (as opposed to a new clone) at each station.
While sounding similar Sansha's Nation (enhanced cyborgs as opposed to computers), it would be far different in practice. Instead of being obsessed with a religious figure they would be dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and self-preservation, and would be far more rational than the fanatical Sansha leadership. This 'Technocracy' would be guided completely by logic but would still have a disturbing habit of ignoring ethics or morale in the name of science (rumors abound of secret experiments done on captured pirates?)
Of course, their origin being quite similar to Sansha's Nation (eugenics, the artificial improvement of humanity) and their ruthless disregard for morallity could cause a great degree of unrest to their neighbors. However, this would lead to some interesting story lines for all you roleplayers out there, or appeal for you PvPers if it comes down to war.
Anyways, I just thought I'd kick up some ideas and see what everyone thought of the idea before actually doing anything. Any thoughts? ___________________________________

It'd have to be ccp endorsed to really be successful and I don't think thats gonna happen.

While offtopic, sites like Minduploading might be of significant interest to you in pursuing this idea.

I was actually talking about a player corperation, but on the other hand... it would make a good in-game event too. Sort of like rogue drones, but much deadlier and much more intelligent. An invasion! ___________________________________

Yeah, sure, can't see why you can't create a corp and RP that idea. Kind of nice not having a "real" human avatar in that regard and we are all just pilots in ships with some old photo ID floating around in local. ___________________

EON story suggests that some of the core intelligences of "Rogue" Drones ARE uploads.

There are people that roleplay smugglers, and all sorts of things.
Why not start a corporation of Cyborgs? If you took it seriously and wrote up a sort of manifesto I could see it as a valid rp corp.
Why not?
There, i just contributed nothing to your thread |

Well, they aren't going to declare war on humanity!
Or will they? ___________________

Except not Battlestar Galatica based, not stereotypical homicidal robots, and they wouldn't use names like 1337H4X. And being hyperintelligent machines, they would make a decent attempt at literacy and proper use of punctuation. ___________________________________

Why would machines use an organics form of communication? Pods replacing traditional captains proves just how ineffective communicating with words was. Everyone should talk like 10101001101001110001110101

The concept sounds like a good idea. It would be interesting to see how this whole thing plays out if someone were to discover a race of intelligent machines to pop up next door. _______________________
