The next natural step for this emerging superpower would be to claim the rich Fountain region, instead of settling with the puny Syndicate one.
How long do you figure it'll take before BoB goes all out on the OSS and they answer by moving into Fountain?

The pre-emptive BoB strike makes sense since it's in the OSS best interest to grow some more before going up against BoB over Fountain. Ideally so when BoB have finally met another challenge, enter bandwagon.
I could ask when the OSS was moving into Fountain unprovoked but that would make little strategical sense.

I seem to be missing hugh big logic jumps in this.. why try for fountain? it's a decent 0.0, but then.. alot of 0.0 is decent within the same range.. you wouldnt happen to have a reason for saying fountain? Gunning for Fountain they'd probably be able to get the support of most former FA corporations still residing around that area. BoB doesn't live and die with Fountain, other alliances does with their regions and thus are better motivated to fight for it. Scoring a victory against BoB or even reaching an armistice would be a resounding public relations gain that would cement the OSS name on the PvP map from there on.

So your saying they would need help to fight anyone? and that the only way to make your name at pvp is fighting bob..
the more you explain.. the more i get the feeling your in someone that needs help attacking bob, rather than any interest in OSS..

You asked for reasons why it should be Fountain, I provided them, you sound like a BoB alt trying to defuse this valid question by questioning the supposed invaders manhood. I've given you every reason as to why it's a good idea, your only counter is that they don't have the balls.

yes.. i'm a well known alt
I agree you provided possible reasons, but avoided actaully answering why you specified fountain.. the same arguements would hold for tenal, venal, branch, and pretty much any other decent 0.0 in the game..

I personally doubt that anything big will ever happen between BoB & The OSS. My primary concern for The OSS is, that by the time they get close to actually having the strength to fight for Fountain (or fight BoB), they would fall victim to the, almost expected, preemptive strike by BoB...
It's fair game, and the best way to dispose of ones strongest enemies. Just makes it a bit boring in the long run ______________________

Well lets look at it this way BoB's been seen in solitude in the past couple of months dunno who exactly because its been reports from others. Though BoB doesn't completely control foutain, OSS has never expressed any visible intrest in the region, they appear more concerned with consolidating lower syndicate primarily the crokite hot spot which has a corridor of systems that seperates it from the rest of the region. So any agression towards OSS in that area would be bottlenecked and met with stiff resistance. But at the moment OSS seems more intrested in help ERA out in tribute. Tbh bob premptively striking OSS at this time, would just be a waste of resources spent killing frigs in a barrel. Which are replaced almost instantly due to the abundance of crokite in a small area.

If I was OSS looking to expand, sure Fountain is nicest region near them, probably still one of the nicest in game... but taking out NORAD would probably be alot easier and still get them a good region with some npc stations that they are used to.
BTW check out sov in tribute at the factory station system (h-w i think) --------------- RIP - Smoske, My Friend

I think its a referance to how the BoB guys cream their pants every time they see the letters BOB oranised in that order. Whenever any thread mentions BoB, even in passing, the thread goes something like this:
Thread Starter: blah blah blah BoB blah blah blah BoB: WOW A BoB THREAD OMFG Poster: It's not a BoB thread, its a blah thread. BoB: YUO SAID BoB SO IT HAS TO BE ABOUT US! Poster: No, we were just comparing you to blah, the conversation is not about us BoB: ROFLOLOLOLOMGWTG, HOW CAN YOU TALK ABOUT ANYONE ELSE! <rest of thread degenerates into rubbish like this thread has>
If the BoB guys didn't **** on every thred that even remotely references them, there would probably be more productive discussion here. Right now BoB are worse than the ALT's. At least the ALTs put on a better show.
As far as the discussion goes, I don't think that OSS has the logistics to maintain three regions. Even if they could take Fountain, I simply dont think they could control Syndicate, Tribute, and Fountain at the same time.

why in the world would OSS want to take fountain? they own one of the most easily defendable, most profitable constellations in eve. its not on any major routes, has tons of crockite, darch ochre and lvl 4 missions for money making. it is a perfect little section of space for a small to medium sized alliance. if they were looking to expand there are right next to Y9g.
fountain would open them up to attacks from all directions and just make their lives harder. |

Why dont you stick to talking about your corp and your goals?? what is you "guesstimation" on Lupus Industries becoming a well known corp (for ingame activities)? BoB vs OSS = alot of LoL. OSS is nothing but numbers. BoB have numbers and lots more friends than they do.
Personally, tbh Only real damage OSS could bring to fountain would be crashing the server.
Goons r goons. Still have an average sp of like 50k. You have held ur ground, because you chose a system area that is easily defendable. Fountain is not so easily defended and would be your demise.
Gonna take some big guns to do that and you simply just don't have it yet. You will eventually no doubt, but you don't yet.
Anyway, go for it I say. Field trip.

Around Christmas and upto a few months ago I would agree with you. But times are changing and what started as a zergling community is, I'm suprising myself to say, growing to become a pretty effective corp.
Living next door to some of them gives a good impression and seeing their ability and what can only be described as fanatical zeal sometimes makes me wonder what could happen in the future.
If their numbers remain as high as they are now they will certainly outgrow lower Syndicate, especially for the maturing players who want more fun.
When that happens I would start to wonder!

Rofl ****, to that if, it happened u'd have every major alliance go on a rampage. Nubbins wouldn't be able to step out of a newbie corp for fear of been war deced and uber ganked. As others have stated goons, live in one of the best constellations in eve a pipe of about 4-5 systems in a row that protect a group of systems where all the crokite is in syndicate bar two systems(which are pirate nests anyway and are unmineable unless you fancy getting shot at alot) They have ice, factories labs, agents Tbh they could close off the entry way with mass bubbles and be there fine for ages there only weaknesses is really megacyte and isogen and they can get alot of that from reprocessing loot, or jumping in stuff with their expanding capital fleet. Not to mention they have a 10/10 just a few short jumps away. Overally i'd say its the richest string of systems, with the arm of outer ring coming in second. And some how i doubt BoB would succumb to mass blob tactics like other alliances may.

Not to mention they have a 10/10 just a few short jumps away. Overally i'd say its the richest string of systems, with the arm of outer ring coming in second. And some how i doubt BoB would succumb to mass blob tactics like other alliances may.
Does EC-P8R ring a bell in recent history?

Don't really see how that situation has anything todo with my post, lets compare the two for fun.
BoB ASCN and Co, Lock down a system shortly after trust announces its produced and sold its first mother ship and conqures a station. BoB didn't succumb in anyway to any form of blob tactics if thats your point.
Where as here we have OSS hauled up a ore hot spot thats well defended and fairly isolated. That BoB doesn't appear to have any intrest in and doesn't appear to feel threatend by aswell as OSS having no apparent intrest in expanding in the direction of BoB or performing any action that would be perceived as hostile towards BoB. Tbh it could go either way in the long run but given BoB's normal stance with neutrals its more likely to be there will be some minor skirmishs if BoB and OSS fleets ever encounter each other, but then again it could just as easily go the other way if OSS earns BoB's respect, and a joint venture by OSS and BoB frankly scares the pants off me.

Field trip.
how many times must you idiots post things like this.
guess what, there are literally dozens and dozens of corps in OSS. it is not just goonfleet and goonwaffe. many of the corps are typical low player count high-sp PVP corps, and many live in tribute etc.
further more, ERA and OSS are basically two halves to the same alliance anyway, and both are fighting D2 so they arent going to go fight BOB.
also goonfleet would murder you anywhere by themselves .

btw for futher reference, when you want to cause some trouble ingame between groups here's a good example to follow:
Start of with some decent groundwork/background (example: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=338512)
yes it is kinna obvious.. but it can be used, with no relation to anything it posts.. but to highlight ascn's posting policy
Then you can post the topic you really want to discuss (example: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=339123)
And get a results you never even mentioned (example: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=339123&page=1#4)
not another ascn alt =/
will bob now believe ASCN are involved a OMGHUGH plot to kill them? who knows.. but it starts rumours etc.. and could be constructive if this was planned and used correctly..
Now these may or may not be related, but it just pains me to see pathetic use of forums when with a little thought you could come you with posts that just werent so painfully obvious..

No i doubt it. Empire war = lots of dead goonies. %95 of goons can't kill without 50+ and bubbles and you know its true. The other %5 are more experienced and are capable of producing kills solo or in small groups.
Last empire war we fought against you, your empire ops disappeared completely and you went to bubble up S-U with 250 peeps. That makes it impossible with that tactic to fight an effective empire war.
The day GOONs spank Contraband is the day they can muster up an Even fleet and outgun us. Which is a long ways away right now for Goons. Not saying its impossible.
I don't mean to disrepect and my smacking asshat days are now gone. I just personally know the power of the said alliances that are being spoke of. And OSS has a HUGE task ahead of them if they plan a takeover in that specific area.
You can't outblob BoB n friends. Yet. Kinda sucks the server can't handle that stuff.

It's not Remedial, his grammar and punctuation much better than that. Anything less than posting in proper English would cause him to preform seppuku.

I can't help but ask how long ago this was, because any fool should know that a few weeks in early Eve life can mean the difference between flying a T1 frig and a BS. Even a fleet of cruisers can pose serious problems in large numbers, and given that they have been around a few months now, I wouldn't want to be the guy who underestimated them by expecting 50K SP pilots.

im not GF, i keep reading thread topics about OSS and finding out its about goons however, they arent the same thing.
can't believe you are actually seriously debating whether OSS is going to invade BoB
its a pretty patchwork alliance anyway imo, but there's still some good guys in it.
goonfleet seem organised to me though im getting tired of posting about them. plenty of noobs in the corp for you to gank 1v1 sure, but actually im not so sure you'd come off that well in any sort of even fleet battle but whatever.

yeah quite frankly you can be in a BS and even have the skills to be useful PVP in a few months with focused training.
and tbh just looking at their killboard the t1 frig noob thing is a lie anyway, they have tons of t2 ship pilots of all kinds. they probably do frig rushes sometimes because they have the numbers to make it work.
if you can get 50 t1 frigs you can vaporise a BS in 30 seconds regardless, all while the enemy is trying to pick a primary. and if your ship gets blown up well, wow, 300k down the drain.
so why not do it.

Edited by: Kwitch on 20/05/2006 12:00:54 Seems to boil down to strategy, tactics, logistics, and conditional warfare smalltalk. All I really have to add is Sun Tzu:
Quote: "The art of war, then, is governed by five constant factors, to be taken into account in one's deliberations, when seeking to determine the conditions obtaining in the field...
... These are: (1) The Moral Law; (2) Heaven; (3) Earth; (4) The Commander; (5) Method and discipline."
It is therefore my understanding that all past, present, and future conflict in this realm is decided by (1)Alliance, (2)The governing laws of this world, (3)The galaxy in it's topographical composition, (4)Leaders, (5)Tactics.
All human composition on the subject of wars have developed on priniples of observation which revolve around these constant factors. I believe, it is in the best interest of everyone, to attempt their own conclusions when assessing the current state of affairs of the region, and attempt to discover from what advantages and conditions may be what the future will bring.
Oh, and yes... Never underestimate the power of large groups of idiots with guns. Cheers.
