If they're banned and considered spam, wouldn't that just serve to make them more valuable as a pirate ransom tactic since there's the chance by the victim they might get forums-banned and hence be more apprehensive to do it?

exactly! all CCP have done is make the Pod or post tactic have a real "price" for the victim!

I'm not saying that it shouldn't be kept off the forum.

lol ... i don¦t worry about people get banned ... it¦s more that the post will get deleted a few mins after they are posted -> this means they get useless. ok, u might think this is super - but for noobs, who can¦t pay tolls it¦s the secure clonejump.
btw, i don¦t see why pod or post has no relevant informations: im always curious and interested in what the customer has to say! and i don¦t see the difference between the "... is a corpthief" , "how many pirates earn iskies" or "which ship is da best in game" (for the 100. times). all these threads r only interesting for more or less limited amount of people. only because it¦s a lough for pirates it is not worth to be seen on the "crime and punishment" forums? as far as i see, my creditcart get¦s billed every month, like those of carebears ... and they talk about stuff i¦m really not interested

IMO, Getting someone to break the rules, especially a new player, should also be a bannable offence. And not just a forum ban.

Well, a lot of things should be bannable offenses, but then we'll just end up with a dead, really boring forum..

so u think all unconstructive posts should be bannable? and not only for the poster, even for people who causes this post? ok ... prepare for a ban: Drew for an unconstructive post and Luigi Thirty - the one who caused it with this topic

Pod or post was allways a good option for players that are broke and get scrambled or pinned down in a system. I don¦t see the improvement for EVE if pod or post now is banned from the game. It just leads to -> more mindless ganking. While some pirates still want to play this game more or less interactive and offer the customers more than the clonejump home.
My reaction on this as TDG CEO is that we will sent a standard form to our customers:
Dear gamemaster!
TDG warpscrambled me, i wanted to do a pod or post but i am not allowed to post "what i want" on forums. That¦s why i have to die now. Please end pod or petition, because pod or post was much better.

Unconstructive, no. Rule breaking, yes.
Just as well they don't ban for being a bit of a retard, with poor reading comprehension.

Don't reopen locked topics. This isn't up for debate.
I would point out that if you force someone to do something that causes them to break the rules, *you* will be in as much trouble as the person.
