ok say you've found a POS you suspect to be offline. You're no industrial character, all you know is that POS do not pod you so you go check out the moon in your egg and find no bubble thing around the POS, and all the items say "anchored" rather than "online". presumably this is what people mean when they say "offline POS". the guns do not shoot at your ship when you bring the ship there, and you can target the individual POS pieces.
now, being up to no good, of course, what can be done with this POS? if you blow up the corp hangar array and the silo, does loot drop? does cargo scanning work on it? Is the POS owner notified that the POS is being attacked, or the entire corp? If i start shooting, will the guns activate anyways? If you randsom the POS, do you usually blast it almost to pieces just like ships and then randsom?
sincerely, -noob to POSes ________________

screw options 1 and 2 - if you have a hauler alt, or even rudimentary hauler skills, hijack the pieces one by one. move it somewhere safe, or put it in a station, then ransom it to them.

You can't if it's anchoard. Just like anchoard cans, they stay forever till the owner unachoars them.
Like the previous poster said, take it to structure, wait till the owner or someone from the corp comes online, convo them, ransom the POS or blow it up. There is apprently profit in blowing up POS's, so I'm sure stuff does drop.
Don't quote me on that...

Contact the CEO.
On a side note, you're going to have one hell of a time mtrying to take that tower down to a few points of structure. Even if it's offline, it still has several million hitpoints in its shield. --------------------------------------------------------------------

yes but according to the item attributes, everything else can be taken down within several minutes most likely. i guess we'll randsom that, thanks :D ________________

oh, in case anyone was paying attention, the attack on the offline POS was a success, at least considering we had no more then a battlecruiser, destroyer and haulers to take it down with! The POS was owned by a 3 man corp, when i saw the CEO offline, a friend and i went down to the POS, made sure it was still offline and started attacking the corp hangar array, silo, moon harvester. We had enough firepower to take down everything except the tower itself and the guns(they regen more then we deal). We encountered no resistance duting the attack and after we had taken the halfnium to a safe spot, a covert ops alt came in presumably looking for us but we got out safely. We managed to haul the remaining halfnium to our base and afterwards i gave the location of the POS away to corpmates if they wanted to try blowing up the remainder for fun. we both walked away with a cool(imo) 31 million of loot. not bad for a day's work. too bad we didn't have the firepower to randsom the POS tower, plus its owner was never online during the attack
and yeah, i posted with an alt. mostly because i had never done so before. turns out it doesn't do anything special, eh. --------- Sig removed BEFORE the mods got to it bahaha -mazzilliu But we can play with it after. ~kieron that should be considered an exploit >[ -mazzilliu Exploit, what explot - Xorus |

Speaking with experiance (14 pos destroyed 3 stolen 2 forcefully relocated)
id say you did good although if the CEO was online i would of parked an alt out there to watch and see if they were unanchoring it then you can pop the haulers coming for it and take the 100-350mill isk tower for yourself you would be suprised how many people keep they're guard down when doing this
Im Cheap, and very Easy ;-) |
