Just a quickie. i want to see if a nighthawk is a good investment for the lvl 4 missions or is a heavy cruiser a better buy. ? which ones better for doing them solo good or very, very bad .
your vast knowledge is appreciated  thanks

Ive heard the Nighthawks tank is very good but the DPS can be lacking. I use a Rattlesnake Battleship and solo all lvl 4's with no problems at all.
Nighthawk - Uber Tank/Lacking DPS
Cerberus - Lacking Tank/Good DPS
Rattlesnake - Uber Tank/Good DPS
Navy Raven - Good Tank/Uber DPS

I am currently using NightHawk with 6 T2 H Launchers and 3 T2 BCS. With that setup I am doing more damage per second than I did with my old Raven with T1 Cruise Missiles. Plus with 5 T2 Drones and the missile precision bonus it is a super great ship.
It can be some problems taking down the biggest nber bosses, but I had that problem with my old Raven too so that is not a new thing. I only need to call in local to get a gang mate to help me out when I have cleared everything else.
And in gang setup mode you can use a warlink module for additional 12% shield resistance to the already super great tank.
Note: I have 28M SP and yes T2 is the only way to do lvl4 solo.

i flu nighthawk for just cpl weeks while waiting for skills on vulture. dps is ok with 6 heavies. had lousy set up but was able to solo vengance no problem except for big rat at the end took about 5m to kill it. with nite's bonuses frigs die fast too so its especialy gd for soloing. definatly better than any bs even with all t2 set up.

Any BS huh? lol, wanna duel? Don't cry if you loose your Nighthawk and all your civilian gear. I donĘt even have a explanation for you, other than your completely and utterly wrong.

nighthawk is poor compared to all the other field command ships. across my 2 accounts i can fly all 4 and for solo-ing missions the nighthawk would be my last choice.
it tanks pretty good but they all do.
its damage is terrible compared to the other 3.
u "can" use t2 missiles to boost its effectiveness but using t1 ammo it cant compete.

I did some missions with it but I cant agree with the poor damage. It does good damage actually., enough to kill BSs.

its damage is poor relative to the 3 other ships of equivalent class.

thats any bs if u solo lvl4 so pvp is diffrent story. nitehawk can hit anything from frig to bs 1-60k with enof damage from 6 heavies and thats what makes it better than any bs when u solo lvl4 missions.btw i had duel with my corp m8 in his navy raven loaded with mj's, 3bcu's and gd skills. he couldnt brake my tank for 10m or longer cos my cap can last forever. i only had dread invi on me to help with em resistance. thats rly beyond the point since we talk about solo lvl4. its not my ship of choice now for lvl4's cos im better with guns.

My other character flies vulture and I solo lvl4's in it the same way i soloed lvl 3's in my eagle. Engage tank, warp in, shoot everything without moving an inch, never worry about dying.
The only time I had to warp out was before I had my current setup and when i aggoed the entire last stage of serp extra. I killed everything but the BS's and then my shield was gone.
My current setup:
High: 5x T2 250mm rails, 2x arba heavy
Med: AB2, Gistii SMALL shield, DG Amp, 2x T2 Invuln, T2 Large Extender
Low: 2x T2 MagStab, 2x T2 PDU
I do admit this setup has a hole in the shield and that is EM damage...
