okay so this was a few weeks ago, im currently in the trial (i actually bought a 30-day cd key off steam) i was flying back from a mission in my reaper, i saw several containers floating around. they are marked various things such as free plex free ammo free loot. ive read alot about eve before i joined and i knew it was a scam and a trap but i figured im in a reaper why would anyone bother? i tried opening one and dragging the perfect sized gun for my reaper into my cargo, a 125mm gattling autocannon I but my cargo hold was full. i go back to the station and empty it. when i leave the only can left was free loot, the one i had previously looked into. i flew up to it, but the owner a one mr. neutral in a rifter was right there. i got scared and went back to the station. i left it thinking again who would bother with a reaper and i want to be a pirate, why not start my theft in the early days. so i left the station went to the can and waited for him to leave. i noticed a cyclone was nearby and part of the same corp. i was thinking at that very moment i wish i had a distraction then amazingly that very second i looked up and saw an armageddon warping in and opening up on the cyclone (he must have been a bounty hunter or something, he didint get concorded) the rifter (mr. neutral) leaped on the armageddon shooting it, helping the cyclone. i saw the oppurtunity. i set full speed approach to the can, opened it accepted the legal hokum about the corp being able to attack you. i stole the gun put it in my cargo hold and ran back to the station. before i was in docking range the armageddon blew up spectacularly and the rifter started chasing me. i started to scream IRL as i saw the locking symbol. a shot hit me but it said it misses doing 0 damage luckily. so i docked within the nick of time, as another volley killed my shield and half my armour.then i waited out the 15 mins taunting him on local untill i could do my tutorials. so thats why i love this game after only about a week.

you are coming into EVE with exactly the sort of attitude that guarantees you will absolutely love it, and play it for all the intended reasons.
my only advice is this:
don't get attached to your ships, they come and go. they are merely ISK in solid form, they are tools that can be fluidly turned back into ISK at any time, and they can break - but if it broke doing its job, then all that means is you were using it right. if you're going to get attached, get attached to the fitting, not the physical ship.
whenever you die, examine why you died and learn from it. don't get frustrated.
don't trust anyone with your stuff.
everyone who sees you is going to assume you are terrible at this game because you are young. practice, learn the ropes, and abuse this fact.
don't be afraid to ask questions. I very highly reccomend the E-UNI chat channel for this. If you want to pvp, I wouldn't recommend joining them - but the people there are immensely helpful. |

If I managed to blow your ship up in a situation like that and you were still a good sport about it. I would have given you 20-40mil. new players that undock their first Merlin to come after me when i flip their cans and be a good sport find 40mil in their wallets. Not suprisingly... that does not happen alot since not many are good sports.
A little reward for even trying is a good thing.
With your attitude, your going to love this game. The Crazy South African.

Awww.. they are so cute when they are young.
Few months and they will be can-flipping and scamming fresh noobs like pros.
Few years and they will be :bittervets:, like the rest of us. And hey, we need more of those. Recent CCP actions have dealt a massive blow to the :bittervet: community, decimating our numbers.
