Very simply - i'd like to be able to train skills on all my chars at the same time. I dont see why u cant do this apart from CCP wanting you to play longer to get more subscription from us. If i'm developing a different type of character - then so what - having to juggle skills between alts is lame.

Edited by: Bashier Tarr on 21/09/2003 16:46:48 The idea was actually from players at the middle stages of beta. It's there to keep players from having three independent characters, ie your CEO/trade character, your industry character and your fighting character. It would make attributes pointless, since you could just min/max your three characters for their specific jobs and raise skills in all 3 of them at the same time at max speed.

So this defeats the diversity and variety in EVE. If you could create and train 3 characters simultaneously everyone would have a character for each job type (miner/fighter/trader, etc.).
The way it is now you are forced to actually make DECISIONS (oh no!) about what you want your character to be and the roles and jobs you want to be able to do. It means not everyone will have the ability to do everything.
It also, incidentally, means people can't "share" accounts - which is against the EULA.
So, in short - if you don't want to juggle skills, don't train alternate characters.

If they could make it possible to smoothly switch between skills as if they were all the same character without having to cancel a characters training to begin the other with complete training loss as a result, then I'd be happy.
Alts would be useful at least during periods of extended stuckiness.

Switch out of current skill into one you haven't started training up - skill points won't be lost. Then abort new one. Loss of skill points will be a few seconds worth if that...

I'm talking about skills on the alt that takes a long time but are only halfway when the main gets unstuck and you really don't feel like waiting half a day for the alt to get there.

I'm so tired of hearing this accusation whenever somebody is unhappy about an aspect of the game. It's "Why haven't they introduced Titans yet? To make us wait and get more money.", "Why can't I build my station this week!? It says on the box I can, I'm paying for a product they're not delivering! Lawsuit!!".
Were's the fun in maxing out your skills after 3 months? Then 90% of the players would have identical skills, yipee.
And $12 a month for getting to participate in this universe? Come on. (Personal note: EVE has cut my expense account drastically, addiction has me locked in my room all evening..)
EVE needs both paying customers and a thriving community to live. Be thankful that they are trying to lenghten EVE's lifetime, and enjoy it while it lasts. A static "maxed-out" EVE will die, continual growth costs money.
