zrakor - you started a thread around november/december promising a complete overhaul of the mission system for kali.
you outlined a number of features that were under consideration and asked for comments and/or suggestions from players.
is there any chance of getting an update at any point on the progress of that "overhaul"?
what features are still under consideration? - gang sharing - lp system changes - lvl5 agents - fewer but tougher rats in missions
and if any of these changes are being planned for release at which stage of the "path to kali" are we likely to see them? in your original thread these were scheduled for kali but as it has now been split into three distinct phases does this mean all the mission changes will happen in one phase, and if so which one, or will different aspects be introduced individually over the three phases.

I remember saying something along the lines of "expect some major changes in Kali", rather than a complete overhaul. But yea, there will be a few major changes.
First of all the old mission system is being scrapped completely in favor of the new, so the old missions will all be using the 'dungeon' system. There are a couple guys here that have been porting over the old missions into the new system, and most of that if not all will be done for Kali.
We are implementing a 'trigger' system that will give us more control in dungeon/complex creation. We will be using that a lot in 0.0 COSMOS mission dungeons and static/hidden complexes. The trigger system will allow us to create 'waves' of pirates among other things, which people might have been accustomed to from the old system.
NPC spawning will be fixed, which should improve the current COSMOS quite a bit (i.e. lessen wait times between mission spawns in static complexes within COSMOS).
And most of the offers have been disabled on our test server. Once TQ is updated with that data (probably not until Kali) then you'll have less 'crap' offers to choose from. Some 'crap', as that's by design, but many of the offers which people have become accustomed to canceling (such as drug offers etc) will be disabled in the next update.
What I can't promise for Kali:
- Gang missions - New offer system (i.e. 'agent store' rather than random offers) - New generic mission system
There are designs in place for all 3 but unfortunately not enough programmer support. I really can't comment further on this as it's up to management to allocate resources to make things happen. I can only really give ETAs on what I'm personally working on, and right now that is 0.0 (booster) COSMOS, and I do expect that to be ready for Kali.

So what your basicaly saying is nothing 'new' for kali then.
Ahh well.
And i too remember your original post in that thread, i remember you commenting at the time that the 'guys' were busy on eve china.
Shame for us huh.
Sorry it's hard to be positive, i feel like we're being shafted (again)

Yes, thank you, however I am fully capable of reading.
My excitement is over the fact that they're going to implement this at all, and are getting rid of the system they have now.

well they are working on stuff, if you go on the test server you can get 'blank' missions from agents and they also appear to be adding some new COSMOS stuff... although i can't say 100% (the mission link warped me to a COSMOS agent with 4 gates, non worked) lol

New features.
Fact...
Non.
It's just a rehash of removing ranged missions and completing it all with deadspace, with one or two jazzed on extras.
No lv5. No ganged rewards. Non at all of what was promised, aside from the removal of normal space missions, to be replaced by ds.
Zrakor did say at the time that 'new' features would be added with kali to enhance generic missioning.
Tbh, it's crap....
We waited a year and got nothing new.... why?
At the time it was said the people responcible for adding said content and new features were busy with eve china.
Im naffed off, totaly the pve side of eve is on the back burner, they (sorry poor term) don't have the programming staff to cater for the playerbase that enjoy this side of the game because they are deployed elsewhere:/
If zrakor would wish to answer and numb my fears then i would obviously be the happier man, right now all i can see is black and white... what was said then, and what is now.

If theres one thing that could change the face of how people play the game its group missions.
Actually ganging up with a corpmate and not simply being a passenger on a mission would be great.
/me begs for this.

Group missions would be great but will the rat bounty be worth it for more than 1 person? The current bounty is just O.K. for doing solo. For two people it is low. People can mine scordite in .9 and make more money than doing missions together.

Zrakor: That pretty much can be summed up to: Nothing new on the mission front.
Copying the missions from the old system to the dungeon system is all that's been done/planned for kali next to removing the never implemented but often announced smuggler profession from The VisionÖ?

Say no to drugs!
P.S. Mission rewards consist of bounties, loot, mission bonus, time bonus and LP. Take the full picture into account

Edited by: Zrakor on 18/05/2006 09:46:34 There are actually features being implemented that will affect missions, they will just do so through the npc spawning system. It's what we call the 'trigger' system. It's going to play a large role in how mission encounters and complexes are set up in the future.
And if you visit the 0.0 COSMOS constellations, you will find that some of the missions there are pretty much what you would expect in level 5s probably.

on some of the deadspace missions when you launch drones everything aggroes onto the drones ,is this intended or a bug?
there was a thread about it in this forum at one point but no one ever confirmed wether it was a bug or intended.

Mission group features: zero (impressive!)
Trigger system as in: Chance to spawn a commander in the dungeon missions. (New!) Next wave arriving when and where the first is done. (Improved!) Keys to gates not dropping unless a certain NPC is destroyed. (Bigger than ever!)
We're gonna see what you have for us. That you're doing it for the 0.0 alliances only doesn't surprise me. They can't run into the logistics concordokken event ... 3 flies with one strike.
Will there be some quick love for the faction standing system past the aggro timer display? Or will the Thukker Tribe standing desaster with broken offers as icing on the cake stay for another year or two? --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. Before you port all to deadspace you might want to fix the faction standing loss issues with the current deadspace missions i.e. 3.2% faction loss for killing an indy on lvl 1 missions etc :/
Not good for new players :p
If you are going to give FACTION hits in deadspace you need to give a boost to the FACTION you are doing missions for as this is hard to combat.
Especially the "Transport ships"
E.g. Amarr Navy Transport ship
or Blood Raiders transport ships, their standings loss is insane
(also structures have a huge loss)

You mean the lost Minmatar Republic standing when you destroy the warehouse in the Sansha mission from Thukker Tribe agents?
I think it will be fixed as soon as the Blood Raiders in Genesis stop flying Angel Cartel and Amarr Navy ships. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

The issue with the Thukker Tribe is actually a lower level issue, i.e. with the storyline itself. They became enemies with the Minmatar Republic, and are actually allied with the Angel Cartel. So it's inevitable that missions for Thukker Tribe sometimes affect your Minmatar Republic standing.

Why do Sansha protect Minmatar Republic buildings in their deadspace pockets? They're the best buddies.
It is the standing hit for destroying the building, not the derived standing hit for doing an important mission. The building is the mission objective and the mission clearly states it is a Sansha depot with Sansha guarding it.
That there is an occasional Amarr faction linked deadspace building in an Ammatar deadspace pocket could be explained by the story behind them. They are 'friends'. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

Probably a bug, I would need the exact mission name to confirm though. The only explanation for Sansha ships defending a Minmatar structure is if they own it, for whatever reason. But either way you definately shouldn't lose Minmatar standing if it's under Sansha control. And if you do, you would lose Minmatar standing for destroying anything in the dungeon, as standing is currently set on a dungeon level and not a type level.

While I did enjoy COSMOS missions for a short while I soon realized they weren't profitable. How about making the current Caldari COSMOS missions worth running? The payoff for those is junk.
Edit: oh, and i think it would be cool if pretty much -every- structure dropped something, even it it is scrap metal / minerals / tobacco. Seems easy enough to implement and some sort of payoff from shooting 1000 missiles into a structure would be nice. -= Save the Gila! Fix its grid and cpu! =-

could you explain a little more about these offers that will be cancelled. when i first heard about this post my stomach sank. i understand that some drug offers are pretty unrealistic. especially the low level agents in empire, wanting drugs for ****tail parties. i admit in Es and Whizz we very rarely deliver drugs to agent runners with these offers as it's just not profitable for anyone involved. we do manage the viral agents and small arms occasionally.
however, there are other quite realistic drug and contraband offers that we regularly work on, in particular the pirate implants, which we have a lot of sucess with. if these were removed from the game, then a whole smuggling profession will be wiped out over night, along with the entire reason for our corp to exist. |

The pirate implant offers won't be canceled, I was mainly referring about the drugs for isk offers. And even they will probably make it back in when the system has been improved.

Zrakor,
A while ago the empire faction module offers were disabled (I believe the term was "Temporarily"). Is there any word about these ever comming back? I mean realistically there are a derth of agent offers which are ever actually accepted. Pretty much limited to implant, connection book, high tech, slave rehabilitation, and ship offeres. Is there any talk of bringing back faction item offeres, or even just broadening the agent offer list to include a wider variety of worthwhile items *cough* T2 BPCs *cough*.
Originally by: hired goon I agree with every point and counter point that has been brought up in this and every other argument ever had.

I got an offer for a Thukker modified 100MN Afterburner roughly a month ago. That the required tags aren't dropping for two years is another story, butr the faction offers are in the game. And you can loot the faction items when you're fighting ships of the four main factions. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known.
