Recentlly the character's Bio has been trimmed down to a maximum of 1000 characters.
I suspect that this is just one of many more feature bashings CCP will implement
to conform to the Raid mentality.
Let me try and show you the fallacy that is going on and must be flagged.
Essentially CCP is trying to let 2000 players that are
all on the same grid have a smoother-funner-time with less lag,
and who in the eve universe would not want todo that.
So CCP starts gathering all the statistics that support the
idea that "this is what the player wants"
due to the ammount of people Rading has an equal ammount of effect on the statistical percetnage.
But what is going to happen when the
"Raider" comes back into Eve as a solo-er;
then, all it will see is the bashed and trimmed
game features that have been removed or trimmed
to conform to this Raiding mentality.
Moreover, all the whinning and playing in the world will not affect the holy statistics a bit
for that soloer is but one individual and has an equal ammount of effect on the statistical percentage.
The statistics that are gathered from such Raiding groups have to be flagged as such;
the fallacy and cancerous affect that data does is break already existing features
for it is showing faulty logic towards what the pilot[s] want.
Ignore this if you want CCP
in analogy
you are gutting the game
to conform to Raiders
that allthough pleased at that momment
will inevitably return to eve alone
and only see CRAP!

What did I just read?
OP complains about character limits in bio. Somehow links this to blobbing. Whines about conflict being encouraged in the game. Goes back to complaining about bio character limits. Blames everything on conflict and blobs.
Did I miss anything?

So just, re-evaluate how we manage statistics;
and note that there are game features out there that are getting stomped on cause they are not apart of any statistic... or rather... they go un-noticed?
And i agree that coming back to some optimized mess is just messed up man...
Think something like this happened to Wow where
they kept making the game more optimized for Raiders.
They made it more insta-raid-accesible via chooping up little game sub features (weapon training, trainers, cooking, . . . )
then when the raider would get tired of raiding and come back to solo work they would just leave cause the non-raid part of the game was dead.

Also a word to the OP, this comes close to a rant, you have a concern and a possible solution which redeems it from a pure rant. In the future, might I suggest keeping some of the emotion out of the suggestion.

The limit imposed on the bio was mentioned by the OP not only as a problem in itself but more importantly as a symptom of a bigger issue that we'd not like to see in Eve. As mentioned above, it's been seen in other games where everything gets directed at one or two groups that the developers perceive as being representative of the community at large, such as in EQ2 where everything became either for hardcore raiders or hardcore decorators, ignoring the small groups that make up at least half the playerbase.
CCP does more to stay in touch with its customers than the developers of any other game I've played. All the OP is saying is that they need to ensure that they hear all the different types of players, not just the loudest ones.

Ok, so, I've read OPs new and shortened version of his post. It makes a lot more sense, and I think I understand where he is coming from. That said, I don't honestly think that it is making any kind of real argument.
Basically, what is being said is that CCP needs to focus on smaller groups in EvE instead of larger groups. OK.
As a result of focusing on larger groups, CCP is cutting features to facilitate their gameplay. Such features cited include long hair for men, a bio character limit and removal of the juke box. This is where the argument completely falls flat. I don't think any of those have even the slightest implication in events with large player counts. At all. I'm sure none of them even slightly affect lag or TiDi levels in large fleet fights.
I think that CCP is very in touch with its playerbase and groups from all aspects of EvE. Certain changes may be implemented due to CCPs vision for the game and certain groups may object to them, but all in all I am of the opinion that CCP works very hard to consider the ramifications of their choices. I would cite the mere existence of the CSM to support this point...not to mention the fair amount of feedback that we get in this very forum from the devs.
So what features of significance do you feel are being compromised in pursuit of appealing to a specific player group? If you said the industry changes coming this summer, the 5 year plan to introduce new space via player built and regulated stargates, or even the present state of the sovereignty system which last saw an overhaul in dominion...I would concede that there are points to be made. Though I would argue against such points to a reasonable extent, for example:
1) In the case of the industry changes I think we are going to see a proper implementation of a real risk:reward ratio that benefits those willing to put themselves in harms way to pursue those sweet sweet margins.
2) In the case of player built stargates I would say that it cannot really be argued that these are only going to involve large sov-holding groups until we see whether or not a sov redux is going to be done. I certainly hope so. If CCP implements this idea without redoing sov I think it would be incredibly shortsighted of them.
3) In the case of the existing system of sov, which most everyone admits is in a rather poor place, CCP has acknowledged that it is a very complicated issue that is also tied to things like capital/supercapital balance and as a result they want to take their time and move on it very carefully. As such we cannot really pass judgement until we see some information about how CCP want to proceed with it.
But none of these reasonable topics have been mentioned. And I see no evidence that CCP is cutting features left and right to facilitate a particular style of gameplay apart from the OPs examples which I believe are meaningless. And I don't really see any particular idea or topic in the OP that warrants further discussion...so while I don't think this thread is a rant per-say, I do feel that it is lacking in either a feature or an idea (at least any one that is flushed out to the point of real conversation).
So...I think that sums this thread up.
