Edited by: Jammy git on 20/05/2006 11:55:25 erm....no, look through the forums and you will see many instances since a few weeks ago where thats the problem...machonet folder is not updating. i've since located a machonet folder for yesterday, and for the first time in 2 weeks, i've been able to log on to my eve on my computer. i might need a machonet file for today after the downtime if anyone could help??

maybe for the same reasons people call other people idiots?
machonet *IS* generated by the eve client itself, this has been stated numerous times, therefore referencing to it over and over without apparent reason might be viewed as a troll.

Well neither you or I know everything there is to know, but I do know that some people have solved such problems by copying machonet folders from other players clients .

You know little about it. There is data that is built from a client/server handshake that directly affects the machonet directory. Some people had problems after redmoon rising and using another person's working machonet directory did fix their problem.

why are you sharing this file, there should be any need to. all that should happen when you use someone elses machonet file is it will invalidate your cache folder. so it will basically be easier just to delete your cache

ask the other devs than...
This problem is/was well know by them.
Jozif from HUN corp discovered the fix first. This bug was supposed to be fixed in teh last patch. And I honestly tought it was, since not much ppl was complaining.
The bug was/is, that the machonet folder/files get corrupted and you get stuck on login before character selection... it just stop and do nothing.
Workaround was overwrite the machonet folder with someone's else who have working client.
Just deleting the folder was not fixing the problem. Even a DEV posted on Jozif's thread and said thx for the workaround and promised the fix...

@ Sharkbait .. if only you dev's had been so trigger-happy with your posts when this issue first came around, with a 19 page long forum thread, and only a GM's response, and the only viable fix from petitioning to link us to our own ******* 19 page thread.
the fix the players come up with was to replace a non-working machonet, with a machonet folder who someone had copied and uploaded after logging in that day.
Sharkbait, you clearly are not in the know. I preferred silence to confused babble.
This issue was fixed for some, and it was said there was some problem with routers not dealing with the packets correctly.. (*shrugs* im no technogeek) clearly however, it has not been fixed for all. -- [center]center] |

ok...did pingplotter yesterday..showing packet loss on ip's 195.50.91.69 195.50.91.98 87.237.38.199 87.237.38.200, did it today, and it took 10minutes for any packet loss to occur full stop...so in that time, surely the machonet file would have time to update? i dunno....using www.ripe.net, i've found that the first 2 ip's are neither CCP or my ISP, they are probably the cause, going on from yesterdays pingplotter test....Mmmm still not able to log-in :(

"so, why doesnt reinstalling fix it?" If I would know, I would be a dev!
The fact is that it's not fix it. It is soem server side problem, or I don't know.
The only fact I know, is that reinstalling is not help. The only thing to fix it is to ask for a working machonet folder and overwrite your. I had this problem a while back. But for me, doing the overwrite fixed it since. Was not needed to do again.
Fo you , if you want more detail, check my first post in this thread. Tehre is a link to the old topic, more details tehre. (Dev response in that thread as well.. so I don't knwo why this problem is not fixed) - POST WITH YOUR MAIN!

ok..update....a couple of servers in London have 'time lag' according to my isp..nothing my isp can do about them..they were 2 servers along with the ccp servers where i was suffering packet loss with....after a chat with my isp, they told me some proxy settings i could try...on one of them, i managed 10 minutes without any packet loss while logging on to eve.. then i suffered a tiny amount of packet loss, first from the eve server, then on of the london servers....and carried on after that without packet loss before connection timed out. As we speak, i am trying again...currently 7 minutes without packet loss....surely my machonet file should have updated by now?!!!?!

I do not think packet losses have anything to do with this problem..
Sadly my ISP is ****.. I suffer from regual 20 - 50 % packet loss, when I ping EVE server with PingPlotter.. The last hungarian server give me this loss.. Well I have a CTD in every hour... :( I hope my ISP fix it realy soon.. but sill I'm able to log in, and my machonet is updating perfectly since I overwrited it a few month ago. - POST WITH YOUR MAIN!

Edited by: Consus on 27/05/2006 19:45:06 I have this problem too although EVE worked for me last night... Cleared machonet etc reinstalled game even but still doesn't work. What was strange was that it stops working after a restart or a maitenence for me, although last night it stopped working for a few minutes then worked again...
I am not sure but I think its either to do with the router or ISP i have...
EDIT: BTW that link for the machonet for today works... if anyone gets the problem and is unsure what to do just delete existing MachONet folder and replace it with the one linked

I am still confused as to why the EVE Devs seem to think we are stupid... for the most part the machonet thing works... you may have a slightly different problem but I am not sure.
Come on Devs at least acknowledge you know what we are talking about. It's getting silly now and we need the TECH TEAM to help get a permanent fix for this so if you're reading this, we are relying on ordinary players but you're supposed to be the ones helping.
If it has been mentioned as a known bug, I haven't seen a mention of it anywhere. It's got to be fixed soon although it was fixed in the large part a while back some people still experience problems

not the case i'm afraid, i can log on using my mums pc, which uses NTL 2Mb ( she lives 3-4 miles away ), i'm 10Mb... i did a pingplotter as requested by support on my computer, but i thought i'd do one on my mum's pc aswell.... it seems we use the same 'hop' ip's, we both suffer some packet loss, and similar lag at certain points, but she suffers a little less packet loss from ccp game server.. yup it's NTL in the uk.. many other ppl are having similar problems and they range from having other ISP's throught to being on the other side of the world.... coincidentally, my problem started at around the same time the CCP hardware was updated...

Edited by: blacknight9 on 28/05/2006 15:12:47 I've run into this issue several times now and i can be certain of one uncontested truth: people are to eager to start game and, every now and then the game stops at the logging bar, (it happened to me too) people believing that the program is bugged or something related.
The machonet directory that was put by me before (which does the following: instead of downloading the content from the eve server, it just doesn't run into the same process because i provided the files(machonet director)) so that's why the game starts.
A potential solution (although it was suggested in the "stopped at the logging bar" thread) is to wait a bit (sometimes even to 5 min) or to restart the game untill it gets all the starting files downloaded.
Maybe it will help, maybe it won't. That's my opinion :). Hope it helps.

After the patch on 23 May I was able to log in again using my landline connection, until last thursday/friday. I still can't log in on my network but if I tap into the local public wireless network I can log in no probs, although I can't do anything due to instability :( Im still waiting to hear about my 20 day refund so I'll have to chase CCP up again.
My PC has an up to date Machonet file but I still can't connect, which suggests the problem lies with the way my ISP is talking to CCP servers. Its not my network so I'm not in a position to go fiddling, but imo why should I have to?

possibly ccp servers...using pingplotter, i have found that most of my packet loss has been at their end....although i do suffer on 'hops' in between.....although, it takes about 12 minutes for any packet loss to happen, which is more than long enough for me to log-on.....i can also play 'Day of Defeat:source' with a ping of around 10-12ms....packet loss is inevitable, but that should only cause a touch of lag, depending on severity...my problems started to happen when ccp upgraded their hardware..or around about that time...might just be a coincidence

....ordered a new PC... if its a hardware issue, as ccp have suggested, then this should be sorted, if i still can't log-on, i'm not going to be happy at all....
