sounds like your disk isn't big enough to hold the installer + the extracted files.
Maybe you could just downloand the .stuff files directly. http://eve-online.com/patches/stufffiles.asp --

I was going to say the same thing, or maybe your Install file get screwed up during the download. I also seen (rarely) large files that are burned to CD not work correctly.
Not sure if you DLed or had a backup copy on CD so it's hard to say without more info.

You need enough space for EVE in the /temp directory your windows installation uses.
EVE uses the registry entry for the /temp directory so you can hack the registry to change the temporary directory for windows.
This might lead to problems with software when stupid devs hardcoded the place where they think the /temp has to be. And I mean very stupid, because the directories are in different places when you install windows in different localized versions out-of-the-box. Better change the entry back when you're done installing EVE. --*=*=*-- Megadon CCP wanted a well known artist and celebrity to test the new font so it's approval would be well known. They got Ray |

You could try this if you wish,(It may free up enough disk space to let you install)
This is one way, and easier. Try it first( I am assumming you are running Windows XP )
Go to start button, find RUN (click it) a white box appears, type in cleanmgr Hit <enter> and it will ask which drive you want to clean up. Obviously its C drive. It will do some scanning and show a list of folders. some will already have a check mark in them. check these if not checked already
Temporary Internet Files Temp files Recycle Bin
Click okay at the bottom and it will remove temporary files that may be cluttering up your hard drive. Try the reinstall again.
There is a more thorough, more complex way to delete temp files which is the way I do it, but try the easy way first. If not try to follow the directions below.
1st, close all of your other windows until your back at desktop.
Double click My Computer from the desktop. Click on tools, then folder options. You should see 4 folders General,View,File Types and Offline files You want to click the view tab.
Under hidden files and folders, you should see an option to show hidden files and folders. Change it from Do not show hidden files and folders to Show hidden files and folders(click the dot) Go to the bottom hit apply and okay until the window closes.
* With My Computer still open, double click C drive->Documents and Settings->(users account name(i.e. magic trev)->Local Settings->Temp Once you are in that folder, highlight everything(CTRL+A) then hit the DELETE KEY on your keyboard. When it ask to confirm Multiple file deletion, tell it yes. (* Don't worry if not all of the files will let you delete them, some of them may be in use by windows(Delete what you can) CLOSE ALL WINDOWS until your back at desktop
* Next double click My Computer, then C Drive again. You should see a Windows folder, double clicky( Be careful in here, very careful ) Scroll around until you see a TEMP folder-> Double Click that and look at the contents inside. Delete those files as well and confirm the multiple file deletion. then close all your windows until your back at desktop
Go to your recycle bin and empty whatever files made it to the recycle bin.
When you are done with that, use the instructions at the beginning in reverse to hide the folders you went into to clean up.
Windows has a tendency to leave old installations of drivers, programs and other crap in the temp folders and take up space.
I have seen errors like that before. It could also be this
Corrupt file Bad memory Bad sectors on hard drive and the list goes on and on.
Hope this helps.
