First off this seems like the best place for this... if not forgive my ignorance and point me to the correct forum.
I need to find a good corp that will allow me to play EVE my way. I'm looking for an exploration / wh corp, but I don't mind scouting jobs as well. Currently I'm located in Heimatar/Molden Heath/Metropolis areas and would like to move into null sec.
I like to give background when I ask a question so people know where I am coming from and why I ask what might sound like an idiot question while being totally serious. Perhaps I am a noob in some ways EVE is big and I've never met anyone that knows every aspect of every part of the game.
Anyway I've played EVE off and on for years now. I started in 2006 while trying to finish my master thesis on AI, and I've loved the lore and the "world" of EVE ever since (my thesis was late because of EVE's influence, I calmed it was research.) I eventually rage quit EVE because I kept loosing ships and couldn't get ahead of my ISK consumption verse earning. PvP and pirates made it impossible for me to keep my low sec / null sec activities funded or viable, I needed a corp back then and never found a good one. I left with 4mill ISK in my wallet and feeling let down.
A couple years later I got the EVE itch again, and rejoined but only lasted a month or so. Maybe 8 months after that I jumped in and out again. Another year later I think I joined again, this time I was going to focus on skills for flying frigates and learning about the new probing and exploration that had just been released in a new expansion. I couldn't afford the Battle Cruises or Battleships that I could fly (or access the ones I owned safely and get them to where I planned to operate). I felt that maybe I could just try to focus on one aspect of the character at a time, make a better character and maybe move past the hurdle I was having. I made a couple of very dangerious trips into Null sec in a shuttle to sell my resources that I had been cut off from. Mostly I just reprocessed and sold off rather than trying to make anything on the junk I had acquired. Then with a chunk of ISK I went back to high sec via a new clone or two, to try and reinvent my game experience. I left eve 3 months later with only 50mill ISK.
So here we are, I'm back, my wallet seems to be flat after a month of exploring in high sec... (low sec lost me my cover ops and clone.) The data core seem to be moving very slowly and not worth as much as the market research says they should (selling both in major hubs and Jita.)
So I realize Solo is the wrong way to fly, I get it, but I have a very casual play style, I cannot ensure times I can be available for ops because of RL. I fly a couple hours or so a day during the week and a little more on weekends (when I can.) I need people that are cool with that, I'm willing to contribute to the corp and its ops, but I'm not a PvPer (just not my style, yet at least) and may have to leave during an op because of RL.
I want to keep playing EVE, but I'm teetering on this edge of quitting again, so I need to find a way to fund the play style I enjoy. I like exploration, combat sites are fun, I love finding wh space and seeing what I can get to in there, and really want to take on sleeper (almost lost my ruppie in a c3 though... so I'm not sure I am there yet, at least not solo). I need a corp or a group of people that will help me do these. I'd love to find a mid sized wh/exploration corp so I can get back out of high sec, maybe earn enough for monthly plex (not really a big deal for me though). I'm more interested in moving to null sec, but I'm open to most location if I can have some security against PvP (I understand there this is in all cases an illusion even in sovs, but if I'm in a system I'd like to know that other locals won't be looking just to pop me of giggles...) |

Nakami I looked there but it didn't seem the right place because I was looking for advice on corps to look into rather than actually applying at this point. But thank you I see your point.
Ramona - Cynical much? If that is what I wanted to do I wouldn't ask or give my background info out. I'd just join "something awful" post actively and become a goon, then make a "newbie" alt and use it to gut corps for the lolz.
A CEO that isn't an idiot should ask for my API, ask me what I want out of EVE and what I will give back to their corp for that experience and see if we align and watch me actively until they feel I'm vetted properly. Assuming the worst in people is what has driven me away from EVE in the past, so thanks for the nail.
Go troll somewhere else. Serious, I bet you'd claim I'm trying to pod kittens too. ;) |

If you are that casual it's probably worth joining one of the bigger corps, BNI, Euni, RvB, TEST, something like that, where you can come and go as you like. Avoid any corp that does papstats.
Euni has outposts in all 4 secs, so you can move between them as you like, rather than being tied to one. |

Uhuh. Im "trolling" becuase you posted in the wrong thread and got some actual people's views and some advice.
APIs identify all your contact and other characters?
Your motivations for announcing you are looking for a WH corp in GD?
Gotcha.

Also Ramona isn't being cynical, the old 'baiting for an invite' is used all the time on WH corps. If you want to join a WH corp, then head to the recruitment sub forum (or wait for this to be moved there, I guess) and read about who is recruiting there.
Your OP is suspicious as hell because it boils down to "I want to join a corp" - OK then do so. The only reason for this thread to exist is presumably to fish for an invite via sympathy and avoid the usual vetting processes. "Do not touch anything unnecessarily. Good point, while API's can be set to include alts on the same account that is as far as it goes. Thus some kind of vetting is needed. I can say back in the day my contact list had a few INFODs in it... they podded me just like everyone else (even though I knew some of them outside of game.) But assuming everyone is out to screw you doesn't get a corp very far and I wouldn't want to be around a bunch that aren't going to trust me anyway (not that I blame anyone for being jumpy, but still.)
Are wh corps so secretive that this looks like a troll? I get your point about inflation, but I honestly didn't realize wh stuff was so hush hush, this is the first time I've seen them and the only other pilot I've seen in them was flying a marauder and podded me before accepting my convo request. |

It's not that WH corps are secretive. It's more the fact that they all live out the same hole (usually out of the same POS's) and everyone has access to everyone else's stuff (give or take certain privileges and hangers). WH live is based on trust, you see the same group of guys and girls over and over again and are all in the same system as each other for most of your time in WH space. You live and play pretty much the same way and have to earn that trust. You can expect to go into a WH and everyone trust you and have access to everything straight away. You might not even have anywhere to store your ship for the first month or so until you've proven your worth.
Security in WH space is a big thing...
As for the guy killing you... Yeah, it's shoot first and then pod and then ask questions if they convo you afterwards...
EDIT: Try going here and explaining your situation and that you want to get into wormholes but are unsure how to do it. But some will have seen this post and said "balls to that".
Be warned, WH life isn't for everyone, you will have to scan, you will have to PvP, you will die. Some days will be tedious when people blue-ball you and otherdays will be full of stuff to do... Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person." |

Thanks Seraph, that helps alot. I'm used to the scanning and dying, I've done a lot of that in EVE already.
One more question though are moble depots worthwhile to bring with you into a wh? Or are you just painting a target on yourself with it? |

One more question though are moble depots worthwhile to bring with you into a wh? Or are you just painting a target on yourself with it? Mobile depots are easily scanned out which means you will have to scoop it as soon as possible once you've done your thing. With the introduction of Mobile Depots this means no player that day trips should find themselves in a wormhole without the ability to scan themselves out. You can literally refit your whole set up from PvP to scanning to whatever very quickly.
We found a guy the other day scanning sites in a hole. He then reshipped to a combat ship and started running a site. He got trapped in when the WH collapsed as he was running the site and couldn't get out because he had no probes.

I see I'm not on the offical indigo super black list there yet. Though that might just be because they haven't noticed this thread... yet. Thank you all for the brief education and exploration of my astronomical ignorance, even after I thought I knew what I was askimg about.

Sorry, I should have been a bit more detailed. I meant post your wants in a corp there. I did a while back, got a few good replies. I realized that because of school I wouldn't have much time to play Eve and didn't want to waste anybodies time. Players post their wants in a corp and hope that the right recruiter will reply, it's not just for recruiting corps to post in, players who are looking for corps post there all the time. |

I only tried a player corp once and they turned out to be all pvp and wanted me online all the time (pre warfare) and it really turned me off to pvp and set me on the solo thing instead. Hopefully I can find a group that suits my game style a little better. |

Fair enough :)
I just realise that sometimes my posts which are sarcastic or jokey on purpose dont always look it, so I use that as a signifier that they are. Didnt realise that the very caveat itself could be considered sarcastic, it certianly isnt where I am from.
