Not a petition, but as a PC tech I've had a few stupid trouble tickets.
One was this lenghty email about some guy who wasn't getting sound from his PC. He'd tried new drivers, reseeded his card, tried the sound file on someone elses PC and it works, but no sound on his PC. He ended the ticket with "Could this be because I have no speakers?".
Than just the other day I got another one. A VP of Sales asked me to "put my desktop hard drive into my laptop so I can just always use my laptop." I simply nodded and said I would do that. As I was carrying away the desktop and laptop my friend asked me what I was doing and I explained I was putting the hardrive from the desktop into the laptop. He asked, "Can you even do that!?" I said, "Of course not, but a VP doesn't need to know that." I copied the files over and was a hero. -- Lil Miner |

In games where your in-game possessions have a real-world value, you'd win that action. Thankfully, in EVE they don't, because they don't belong to us. ________________________________________________

I was about to petition for my real life back, but some technical error made it fail.

An untested assumption...either way.

I tried that once before. Emailed the Assistant manager of the company I worked for. Got a reply back saying I'm afraid we can't give you back what you probably never had to begin with What made it worse, he was actually right

lol. Nice.
I sell computers at a large electronics store and get really stupid questions everyday. Usually preceded by "I know this is a stupid question but..." Sometimes its those questions that make my day.
I have no sig, because I can't compress my picture down that far. It looks like crapola. |

Howw about the husband and wife who called tech support becuase they couldn't get the computer to work. After 4 techs, 3 hrs I got the call and I figured out two things.
they were physically putting the mouse on the screen, and when they moved it to the start button "the bottom left corner of the screen is unviewable. how do I see where to click?"
Ohh, and did I mention that neither of them could read?
we just told them the power in their house wasn't compatable with the computer, and to just pack it up and ship it back and we'd offer then a full refund. They said, "ohh. That's too bad. It's nice of you folks to offer us a refund. We were afraid we wouldn't be able to use the comptuer for a few years."
The rest of the tech staff were in the managers office listening to this on the speaker phone. At least 4 of them were in tears from laughing so hard.
well, until I figure Illustrator out. :) And I cant' type eiterh. :)

When I worked tech support, I actually had a guy break down in tears because he couldn't read back the error message on his screen when I asked him to.

When I worked in tech support for the armed forces I'd get high ranking officers ringing up and attempting to intimidate me with their rank etc. I'd ask them to log on and remote into their desktop, as they were typing in their password I'd just press a letter on my keyboard so they'd get their password wrong. After a few attempts they'd lock their accounts and I'd laugh mockingly as I unlocked it. Depending on how rude they'd been when they first rang up I'd maybe force them to lock their account 2 or 3 times.
Made me laugh and made them very very humble.

I work for an aussie ISP, and had a guy call and sign up a broadband account. Upon receipt of his modem (free modem in contract package) the guy called up and asked what to do next, and explained he didnt realise he needed a computer to use the internet.
