What, exactly, is the point in becoming a command specalist? Currently I have these skills:
Command ships 4 Information Warfare 4 Squadron Command 5
With an Eos I get (using a 2% recon operation command mod - 2% being the most common bonus) a bonus of 13.44%. However, if I use a brutix instead (cost 25m vs 140m) I get a bonus of 12%. Therefore, taking the time to run up squad command from 4 to 5 gets you a grand total of 1.44%.
What is the point of this? Effectively this means the command ship bonus is nearly useless. If T2 guns required a rank 6 skill at L5 but only gave an additional 1.44% can you imagine the screaming? I therefore propose the following to ensure that you actually get the bang for your buck so to speak:
1. Increase the bonus to command modules on command ships to 7.5% or possibly 10%. The amount you get now (3%) is a joke. 2. CCP should introduce T2 command mods that REQUIRE squadron command 5 to use. A 2% should give 4 or 5% and a 3% should give 6-7%. 3. Remove stacking penalties from command mods. 4. Consider changing command mods so they stack with skills. In the example above, since I have leadership 5, the command module does not provide 13.44% bonus - it actually provides 3.44% since only the highest effect has any effect.
This would be a start to ensure that those who want to actually specalize in this area are rewarded for their efforts.

I don't know the best way to tackle the problem, but something should be done; those figures speak for themselves.

If you dont see the point then point your view to the skill requirement of the command processor

I wonder how many command procs are actually in existance and in use in the game. Didn't the last database information thingy released show that there were 900 leadership modules total in all of eve? I account for about 20 of them. --- Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail. - Emerson |

Edited by: Taurgil on 20/05/2006 20:19:40 Yes, this is maybe realy weird but could probably be explained like that:
1) the link mods and link implants are not for so long ingame
2) many many players have extremely low charisma. squad command and all other leadership skills rely heavily on charisma.
3) maybe not all people have realized that command proc can be used on a tech1 BC and are still training for die big/expensive ones.
But Squad V/Lead V for a Tech1 Command Processor looks...umm maybe slightly unbalanced either.
