I have been playing for a couple of weeks, currently have a Catalyst Destroyer, and saving up for a Thorax Cruiser. I have been doing lvl 1 missions, but noticed that my agents were giving me the same repeating missions. Then I found some new lvl 1 agents, and they are also giving me the same missions. I tend to look for combat missions rather than mining or courier missions.
Is it the case that there are just a limited amount of lvl 1 combat missions period? Maybe a dozen total? Or am I doing something wrong?

No your doing everything right its just theres a limited pool of combat missions the agents give out

Yep, there are only so many missions for each mission level, so if you do them long enough you'll see some repetition. The L1 agent missions can get a bit dull after a while, they tend to be easy, especially in something like a Catalyst.
It gets a litle more interesting and challenging once you hit things like L2s.

For more combat missions, try using a "Security", atc, agent. Using these gives you about 97% kill, 3% courier.

if you're bored doing the same missions repeatedly, you can always try another race's missions - only downside is it will hurt your standing with your original employers

Just save up until you can use and properly fit a thorax. Doing level 1 missions is probably as fun as mining after doing it for a few weeks.

Here is something someone has used in his bio. I found it very usefull to get the right missions. (read kill objectives) They do repeat a lott though.

Administration: 50% Kill, 50% Courier
Advisory: 34% Kill, 66% Courier
Archives: 5% Kill, 90% Courier, 5% Trade
Astrosurveying: 40% Kill, 30% Courier, 25%
Mining,
5% Trade
Command: 97% Kill, 3% Courier
Distribution: 5% Kill, 95% Courier
Intelligence: 85% Kill, 15% Courier
Internal Security: 95% Kill, 5% Courier
Legal: 50% Kill, 50% Courier
Manufacturing: 5% Kill, 95% Courier
Marketing: 5% Kill, 95% Courier
Mining: 5% Kill, 85% Courier, 10% Mining (II)
Production: 5% Kill, 95% Courier
Public Relations: 34% Kill, 66% Courier
R&D;*: 0% Kill, 50% Courier(S), 50% Trade

Great list....I don't see Personnel on the list...any idea what the ratio is for that type of agent? |

The list is not entirely accurate.
The kill/courier mission rations also depends on what kind of corp you are working for, I believe. For example, empire Navy agents will almost always give you kill missions (including Personnel agents).
