yea i know.. once again etc..pp. but i dont realy want to whine about instas or something like that - they are okay (well a lill overpowered but see the other threads)- i need them and i use them - in fact i have ~3k BMs. Right this is my problem...
I got a new Corp - and you know the 2nd thing to do is to exchange BMs. Now I sit here since 2 or 3h copying a set of Syndicate BMs (~640) for a mate. 2-3h of my gaming time wasted in copy bookmarks! Thats no fun, thats no game, thats even worser than watching commercials or talkshows in TV!
I can realy understand that you put a limit on copy actions there must be alot overhead to move them around - etc. Realy i can understand that the copy stuff need to be slow and laggy but pretty pls think about a more final bookmark solution. The last thing i like to do in eve is wasting my time.
thank you.

Personally, I'd just like some sort of REAL cue system. where we could specify the bookmarks to be copied, and come back a few hours later and they'd be done.
Kind of like the factory slots for building. Make it a Station computer that expertly copies your BM's. Charge for it, and make it so it's full proof and shows you a countdown.. say XXXX Region has 758 BM's. It will take 17hrs and 4 Mins, and cost 3 mill XP.
Then I come back 17hrs from now.. wait the extra 4 mins, and BOOM, they're delivered in a little cardboard box(for RP Purposes the Cardboard box contains the memory matrix the BM's were copied too).
This way we could batch out our BM Copying and still keep server overhead down. Hell, if you double the time inbetween each BM copy, but allow us to do this while we're offline, most BM copying will take place during the hours people don't play, hense when the server load is at it's weakest.
well, until I figure Illustrator out. :) And I cant' type eiterh. :)

It would be really nice if the system could be streamlined to have faster copy times. It's going to take me 4+ hours to copy a set of the derelik BM's twice, it's a real PITA. But I suppose since they're so handy and we should be glad to even have them that it's not a big price to pay, but still, it's boring as all frack. ----- Lighten up a little bit. It's only the end of the world. |

I like EF's suggestion. Only you'd have to give up the BMs while they're being copied so you can't use them. It would be a great ISK sink.

Who said you had to use them? The only solution is for everyone else to log off eve just so You can copy your dumb bm's for your buddy..

The majority of Eve that has them already says you have to use them.
Anyone that comes into 0.0 space without bookmarks is laughed out of their pod. Enough people have them from when it was easier to copy them that you simply can't play competitively without them.

This is so not true that it is actually laughable. You think that when BoB went on it's Easter bunny hunt that we had insta's for every system we went to?
People need insta's because they can't work together, or try to fly an inappropriate ship through hostile space.
They aren't a requirement, they are a cop-out.

Not a solution on what you consider waste of time, quite the opposite. But how about making bookmark copying more like BPO copying, requiring a lab. And only possible with the original bookmark. * Would make bookmarking gates etc a better way to make an income (instead of someone copying someone else work). * Probably reducing people copying entire regions just in case, and thus reducing serverload. (but keeping original / copys separated might offset that?) * Would take some more planning before going into enemy territory. * ISK sink (lab rent).

You forget something: CCP doesn't like instas and they don't want everyone having instas, otherwise they'd just change the minimum warp-in distance to 0 km. edit: In deed I think they don't want anyone to have instas.
Well, I use instas myself and will do so, as long as it's possible. But I still don't have all BMs on all my characters. At the moment I could use the full Metropolis set for an empire war. I have it, but on an alt. I'm too lazy to copy over 1000 BMs. Copy times are the current trade-off you have to accept.

I'm not sure why ccp wouldn't just let people warp 2km to gate/station and then remove the bms. BMs add a lot of loads on server and pretty much every experienced players are using them. Only newbies don't use them. If people want to pvp, they can always wait at exit. They are just creating problems for themseleves honestly.

How about taking the BM's from the player base and putting them as a corp asset?
All members of that corp get automatic access to them from their people and places and the in space right click menu.
Only directors can add or remove them. Adhoc BMs made by member will goto an adhoc corp folder that everyone has instant access to.
Don't allow BM's on a player basis but just the corp. Will reduce the amount of entries in the database, but still will be accessible to the whole playerbase.
Just a thought,

Cause we need the 15km as engage zone. Those and the 15km behind the gate are the only place where you can intercept travlers. If you cut it down to 2km pirates will be out of biz - what is a bad thing. Also BMs are not used for instajumps alone. There is a wide range of tactical BMs (scan spots, safespot, sniper spots, etc) that would get screwed if you just "remove em".

You are right. You dont need instas. You could just blob be fine :o Sadly/happily this is not the way it works for most ppl :) There are other methods too - so you can use a CO as warp in point - so you are still right.
But tell me the truth: you dont use instas? I doub! There are many situations where they safe my life. Dont missunderstand me i also think instas are a lill exploid and are one reason piracy is that hard in eve (and no i am not a pirate nor a defender i am just a trader) but as long as they exist they give me an advantage i want to use.
Anyway! The current implemntation of Bookmarks reach the end of playability. They lag the p&p and they are pain to copy.
If CCP decide to keep them i would say Eternal Fury solution is the way to go, but i would prefer CCP exchange them for something new perhabs with lill more gameplay around..
so long
