So I see these Hulks and Covetors with pilots named HT0001 in .07 or 8 space sucking every belt in the system completely dry. I noticed almost all the time they have a drone or two orbiting. Try to convo or raise them in local you either get absolutely nothing or gibberish after a very long pause. The Macro Miner.... So I have some questions.
If I was to steal from their jet cans, I would get flagged and hopefully their drones would attack me, correct?
If their drones attack, I can fight back without CONCORD intervention?
What sort of security status penalties would I incur if I steal from jet cans to provoke a fight.
What strategies (modules) would be helpful in locking down a barge or exhumer and blowing it to pieces solo?

I'd get a friend, both fit 2 scrams each, and make sure ALL that attack don't get away. Use caracals: theyll shred the barges in no time. The drones are all that could hurt, and an extender caracal will have no problem with any barge or exhumer.

You don't get a sec hit for stealing from their container, if they attack you .. then you can legally defend yourself... warpscramble and kill off the MM.
You can't pod them without concord coming.

Thats why we have two extra character slots. Create a rocket kessie character and use it to pod macro miners. :)

FTR, i dont do this.
Or.. if you got 2 accounts... that is in different corps, wardec eachother, gang up suspected Macrominers... boom, ship and Pod can be taken out 
Have been trying that and think 1 Apoc and 2 Covetor went boom with their pods doing this
EDIT: that is gang up suspected macrominer with one account, attack with the other but that was pretty obvious I suppose, however it is very hard to do that as most don't respond to convos and such.

Never tried it my self but i've heard that the drones take a snowball attack as agression and attack you. Of course concord doesn't so when their drones fire at you concord comes along and blows them up for you
Dunno if that works though.

When you have a macro hauler things get really fun.
1. Drop a can near to the miners cans, if the miners cans are named something like AAAAA then name yours 'AA'(non alpha gets sorted to the top.
2. Then either transfer as much of the miners ore to your can as possible, or just wait.
3. When the macro hauler scoops the cans contents they are flagged against you.
4.
5. Boom. All legal and above board.
This is also a fool proof way to catch a macro miner as a real miner will either sob in local about the loss or not scoop the can to start with.

Very good idea :D
I doubt the macro would click the warning message away though. But maybe the 'corporate policy' they have is to remove any question boxes in the settings so they don't interfere with their macro mining.
I want to test this on my noob char. Any ideas where some of them hang out currently?

There is a macro crew that works in Aporulie. Every belt plus hauler. Great ideas on this thread....A macro mugging I will go, high ho the merry'o....
