I want to suggest darker backdrops in general, when you're refreshing those for the upcoming graphics updates. Some of the blue ones are fine, but the reddish bright ones are just plain annoying.
I already thought they were way too bright down in Syndicate using my old CRT, which had pretty dark color settings. But since it blew up and I've sitting a brighter TFT on my desk now, I have to wear sunglasses to keep my eyes from getting tired and irritated.
Thanks.

The ability to dim/brighten the background would be nice, perhaps a slider, just like the transparency slider for the windows. Transparency for the background, over inky black, would do it.

Now I admit, some of the background images are just plain awesome! I can think of one in particular but I can't remember what system it was in. Anyhoo, I agree there are many that are just annoying.
Not to hurt any graphic artists feelings but, I'd like it much better of you made the clouds really, really dim and far away and then add awesome views of the gallaxy from the perspectives you would expect to see in each system. Maybe you could use the starmap to do that. |

Agreed.
I have been running missions for Emperor Family in Nakregde. On undocking, I am often flying directly toward the sun and have to move the camera so the ship obscures the sun to see what I'm doing. Especially in the evenings when I often play with the light off so I can see my monitor better, (less reflection from the light behind me), it's like looking directly into a lightbulb and all I can see is a bluish blob in front of my eyes after that.
This is the distant future, we would have some sort of auto sun-visor that would activate under these circumstances.
