TITANS, Whats the big deal?

Kezder	Posted - 2006.05.22 15:28:00 - [1] Ok, i was in Sisi and an ISD guy had a levy titan, so i thought what the hell and i challenged him to a 1v1 fight. Ok so lets compare, ISD member, fully skilled in a titan VS Myself in a Revelation, i knew i would lose but who cares, we started and we were pretty even for a while so i got one of my gang members to give me 5 fighters, i had them for like 5 mins and my friend had to log, was skill looking pretty even and i was looking set to run out of strontium, then to my surprise i took out his tank, and was going into half armor. He then warped off cos Titans arent seeded. So,i had won, had 80% cap all the time and only ever used 1 rep periodically

Kylania	Posted - 2006.05.22 15:37:00 - [6] Titans aren't really designed for one vs one slugfests right? The whole point of a titan is that it doesn't fly alone, it allows an entire fleet to come with it. You'll never go 1v1 with a Titan in a real fight. -- Lil Miner

Remember that a dread with siege mod has a 625x damage bonus - so will in all likelyhood out-damage a titan. But really, what are the chances of seeing a titan on its own?

And tbh, I'd say that for the bigger alliances the 60b is maybe worth it, depending on what the jump portal abilities and costs are like. Little sounds like more fun then sending a whole fleet through a jump portal across what would nromally be 20 jumps in the blink of an eye. Ideal for our little roadtrips that. Old blog

Edit: I have to edit mystatement because the 1st titan loss will prolly happen sooner or later due to a CTD and login trouble afterwards.
zyto	Posted - 2006.05.22 20:12:00 - [25] Same thing as with carriers, they use a ton of cap jumping in, they can't jump out. Hence a few dreads could easily roast a titan before its cap is back up.

Question is are CCP looking at pirate faction titans (modified serpentis one for example) if not at titan level them perhaps dread level ?

You have a Dread with 3 XL turrets and 1 cap repper (well, you could fit 2, but using them both in siege mode drains cap like no tomorrow). But wait - that's not really the whole situation is it? In siege mode, you get 650% damage bonus, so it's like 3x6.5 = 19.5 XL Turrets. And your reppers cycle twice as fast and repair twice as much: 2x2x1 rep = 4 reppers. And you're surprised at the outcome of the fight?
