It's not just a few hours of work to implement a first-person (?) view. Use the zooming features instead.

And it wouldn't work with the background stories anyway.
The pilot is in a pod of goo piloting the ship with his brain. A camera drone encircling the ship is then connected to his brain, so he can see what's happening :)
So, what do you want to see? The inside of the pod? Or maybe the pilots brain?

if acording to the back ground story we are in a pod of goo ...whats up with the character pictures not presenting this?
im not saying do away with all the other camera views..i just think a*****pit view would be a nice add on.

They take these pictures like driver's licenses just before you are submerged in the goo. My goo was to cold when they put me in it by the way!

Because many of our ships were created before pods, when there was a huge crew for every ship.
The the pods made 1 pilot able to control everything in his ship.

Yeah you do have a crew that changes your goo every now and then. They need windows to look out of so they can point at something and scream when you set a collision course with a station or star.

the ships have tons of living quarters for when you decide to kick back and get out of the goo.

I don't, You would have to change the view back to the camera drone every time you alter your direction unless the thing you want is ahead of you.

Wouldn't be that hard to add*****pit views.
1st off every ship model would need a new camera attached to it, in a place that appears to be coming from a*****pit. Like this Screenshot..
Then every ship could be given it's own*****pit image like the funny one on the 1st page, but you know, not as funny. Like this Screenshot..
Then you need to add the*****pit view button to the left of the Scanner/Autopilot buttons (don't forget to add a hot-key as well). The button would be the way you tell the client what camera mode to use.*****pit or Freelook.
Would be cool..

Actually, if you read wet grave carefully. The bug ships like b-ships don't have just one guy in goo controling it. One capitan and then about a crew of a thousand or so. I think it was back in beta that they lsited the crew sizes. Even the sammler shoips have about 3 crew members in goo with you.
Raven - Crew 7400
Scorp - Crew 6400
Most Frigates - Crew 1 (you)
Rupture - Crew 620
Bantam - Crew 3
Badger (indy) - Crew 150
So you see all ships but some frigates have a crew. Sure you the capitain is in a pod. And probably your officers. But for the big ship they still have crews. I am sure with pod tech the crews are much smaller. Since soemthing like an Apoc probably would take like 20k in men to man without pods.
With pod tech frigates have one piolt. Hey and remmeber that at frigate is a capital class ship.
