The bookmarks themselves are stored by CCP on the servers. What is on your computer is the folders that you use to sort your bookmarks. To save the folders, you want to save the eve/cache/settings subfolder.
Just copy it somewhere else, then re-install EVE, then copy it back in place, and you're done. --- High quality pics of ALL EVE ships!

What you can do is buy a Small Standard Container for each BM folder and move (do not copy) the contents of each folder into a can, labelling it appropriately. After reinstalling the client, you can just create new folders to match the cans' names, and move or copy the BMs back into those folders.

What are you talking about? I just did a few tests and it works great. Here's what I did: - Ran EVE to check if everything is ok -- yes, everything was OK. - Closed EVE, opened Explorer, found aforementioned Settings subfolder, renamed it to gibberish. - Ran EVE again -- bookmarks were all messy (folderless) but still in People&Places, client settings (such as screen resolution etc.) were gone. - Closed EVE again, re-opened Explorer - EVE had re-created a new Settings folder. I deleted it, and renamed my actual Settings folder to its proper name. - Re-ran EVE -- and all was fine again.
I suspect that if I were to not only rename the Settings folder but also move it to some place else, delete EVE, erase my hard drive, re-install Windows, re-install EVE and put Settings back in its place, it would also work just fine. --- High quality pics of ALL EVE ships!

Edited by: Alpha Centauri on 23/05/2006 10:48:33 What I find is by naming your bookmarks in an organised manner can help you organise them into folders quickly if you change PCs or what not.
All my gate to gate instas are named like so and I put them in folders by region.
First off all my instadocks are named as follows:
Station VII M1 Station V M2 Station XI M3 (School)
and I stick all those ones named in that manner into a folder called Stations
Then all my gate to gate/ station to gate instas, some examples as follows:
Station VI M2 - Hageken Station VI M2 - Nalvula Uosusuokko - Vuorassi 39-DGG - 01-FTD
Now I stick these ones in folders by region called Lonetrek Instas or Geminate Instas
When I use a PC to run eve I havent used before I can quickly organise my bookmarks into folders as I use a specific naming convention.
Another one I have is a Tactical folder with naming convention as follows:
Station VI M2 - Nalvula 500KM Station VI M2 - Nalvula 2000KM
Its not exactly completely tactical but I have various BM's from gate to gate / station to gate that put me X KM from the gate along the insta path, the above insta names would get me 500KM or 2000KM from the Nalvula gate along the Station VI M2 - Nalvula path.
anyway, not exactly answering the question but I think naming the bookmarks in a certain manner will help organising them into folders.
